July 2025
A lot had changed in sav’s life following graduation and the explosion at the Quidditch championship match. Sav had been there and had been injured in the collapse of the stands. He and his team were in an area fairly high up and he had expelled most of his energy making sure that Katherine was alright and trying to get her to safety that he basically pushed her away and took what he thought would be the brunt of the damage. He didn’t see that after the building collapsed down on him, trapping him under, Katheine had other things happen to her as well.
Sav ended with several broken bones, but nothing unrepairable. Within a few days he was fine again, but the psychological effects of the event still weighed on him. Quidditch practice had been temporarily paused while the world mourned and was rebuilt. So he decided to spend the surprisingly sunny day walking at Hogsmeade. He wanted to stretch his legs, and he wanted something to feel a little familiar again. He couldn’t count the number of times that he had done laps around this village, or hours he had spent in the shops and pubs with his friends. He could imagine it was a favorite place for a lot of people, himself included.
The Ex-Gryffindor took a turn and walked into the joke shop, one of his favorite haunts. Sav had been a known rebel during his time at Hogwarts and had played more than a prank or two on professors, friends, and unexpecting civilians alike. He was an equal opportunity jokester. But he couldn’t say he had in the last few months. He had gotten fairly serious in his life since Graduation and since getting serious with Kat. But now, with the sudden addition of Adonia in their lives, he was starting to feel loose again, more like his boyish self.

STILL IN HER TRAINING GEAR, ANA PRETENDED like her heart wasn't racing. This was a game she'd learned to play with herself often most recently. Ever since the infamous explosion, Ana had been physically fine, but mentally struggling. She couldn't tell anybody that, though. Not with her sister in hospital, recovering from a curse, and Hag's Fever making every wizard within spitting distance nervous.
So, she coped. With a barking laugh, Ana pulled the mechanical kitten toy from the shelf. If she pulled its tail it's little metal claws almost pierced the skin. She thought about getting it for Kat, switching out her precious little feline with the mechanical menace. It's robotic hiss almost lifelike, if it wasn't for the lingering buzz underneath.
And it was an odd picture, the tall, pale girl sheathed in football gear without a ball in sight. Her duffel bag hanging at her hip. She was supposed to be doing drills at that second, but instead, she'd taken a train all the way to Hogsmeade and spent the day drinking frothy butterbeers and considering the prospect of beginning her teenage stockpile of dungbombs once again. Anything for a distraction. Even if the slightest loud noise made her flinch, the sickness looming at the pit of her stomach, a constant companion.
"Macmillian...?" Ana's head had lifted, now holding a mood changing mask in her hand, when she seen the familiar face. Her desire for a distraction making her impulsive as she smiled at him from across the shop, lifting the mask to her face without realising that it turned to a fearful scream when she did. "Am I happy to see you?" She asked, pulling it away to peer over its wooden, dark splash painted front. The eye holes white and gaping at the front. She turned to see its change, her curiosity turning to horrifying realisation that made her shaking hands drop it. "Oh!" She laughed gustily, dropping to a crouch to scoop it up and replace it on the shelf. "Apparently not."

Sav had been in his own little world, which was perfect since he had come in here to get an escape from the world outside. So it didn’t surprise him that he hadn’t paid any mind to the other people in the shop until one of them called his name. He looked up and saw Ana Krum, a girl that he went to school with and knew fairly well during his time at school. She picked up as a mask as he made his way across the shop, over to her, to greet his old friend. The mask in her hands changed expressions and he raised his eyebrow with a laugh when he saw it. She laughed as well when she took a look, saying apparently she wasn’t happy to see him. “Well I guess I don’t make a great first impression. “ he smirked. “What are you doing here?” he asked, noting her outfit… err… uniform. As happy as he was to see her, she did look extremely out of place.

SAV'S FRIENDLY FACE WAS A WELCOME SIGHT TO Ana. She felt some tension ease from her chest when he took her greeting in stride, crossing the shop towards her. She huffed a laugh through her nose, replacing the mask on the shelf hastily, glad to see it gone. "I think it's just your face, you know?" Ana joked, clicking her tongue as she shifted in her training boots, the studs underneath screeching against the tiles.
"Uh," She pulled at the hem of her football shirt, the name Krum emblazoned on the back with her number, he'd definitely noticed. "Looking for something for my sister." She shrugged, it was a good enough excuse, though Kat didn't have a birthday due until October, there was no reason Ana couldn't get her something out of season. "Plus, I kinda miss it." Ana revealed with a scrunched nose, watching a family with two young kids play around with the interactive mini pranks kit. "It's weird that we won't be back after summer, right?" She felt stupid for saying it, looking for reassurance in Sav's face.

Ana commented that it was just his face that didn’t make the best first impression and he laughed. “Good one.” he winked. He knew his face was pretty nice to look at, if he did say so himself, of course. And he loved his jawline. She admitted that she was in the shop, buying something for her sister. He nodded. He couldn’t say that he knew when her sister's birthday was or why she might be buying her something, so it wasn’t so strange to him. It was kind of strange that she was in the uniform, but he wasn’t going to question it. “Find anything good so far?” there were a million great things in this shop.
She then added that she missed this place and he nodded, he could identify with that. This village was always a respite during school, it was a welcome break from the castle and the grounds. “Yeah it is weird. I bet this is what everyone feels like when they graduate. I always was jealous when people graduated and left but now I get why they were always kind of hesitant.” he was glad to be out of school, but now life was different and he had to figure it out.

TRUTH WAS ANA COULD HAVE BEEN ANYWHERE, it would have been better than practise. The less she went the harder it was becoming to go back. But, she kept up pretences. Even now. Smiling prettily, her cheeks heating up instinctively in response to Sav's replying wink. He'd always been a boy well aware of how good looking he was. How good he was at everything, really. Ana had appreciated it, even when it had annoyed her. "It's Zonko's." He replied, as if that were answer enough.
"I dunno." Ana scratched the back of her ear, not entirely agreeing with Sav. "I always thought I'd miss it." She shook her head, feeling ridiculous as she curled a loose lock of brown hair around her ear. It hung in two loose pigtails, similar to how she wore it at school, out of her face but still framing it. "I had a lotta friends and like, I still do but-" With a gusty sigh, she picked up an exploding snow globe to busy her hands. "What're you doing with yourself, then?" She asked, changing the subject swiftly.

Sav gave a chuckle and nodded along with her answer. It was a great shop, she was guaranteed to find something among the shelves, no matter what she was looking for. Sav had never walked out of the shop without some treasure in his possession to take back to the castle and plot with Hugo about. He’d probably get something today to use on Katherine when he got home, but he didn’t think she’d appreciate it as much as Hugo would have. “Fair enough.” he nodded easily.
Ana said that she always knew that she’d miss it. She admitted that she had a lot of friends at school and added that she still did, but he could tell that life was different for her now over the past few weeks. He couldn’t wait to get out of school and away from his family. He was glad to be on his own and he was ready to take on life alone… well, alone with his partner, or, in the case of the past little while with Adonia, partners. Either way, he was on his own, and that was nice. “Oh, Quidditch mostly. But practice is light right now with...everything…” he was sure she knew about the explosion at least. Everyone knew about it, even if they weren’t there. But he bet that she was since she was athletic and into the sport. “And you? Football?” he asked.

IT HIT ANA SO SUDDENLY THAT HER FIRST instinct was to feel guilty. "Oh, right!" She exclaimed, palming the back of her neck. "You're with Puddlemere." She shook her head, feeling embarrassed. "I totally blanked." Ana was blanking on a lot of things lately. She and Sav's main thing in common at Hogwarts had been Quidditch. He'd been a Gryffindor so she'd ribbed him about their straight-laced tactics and he acted like the Puff's never won. Or, so her memory served her.
Everyone had assumed Ana would join a Quidditch team after graduation, she'd joined a Muggle football team instead. But, that didn't mean she was no longer a fan, in fact Puddlemere was up there with her professional favourites. But, ever since the explosion, Ana hadn't spoken about Quidditch or even read about it. It made her palms itchy. She didn't know if Sav had been there or not, too afraid to even ask. "Yeah... everything." She mumbled with a small, tense mouth, dropping her gaze anxiously.
"Football is good!" She perked up, the party lines falling from her mouth easily. "I'm killing it." She said with confidence, and she had been, right up until she stopped going. "They don't know a thing about brooms and quaffles." She joked, shrugging her shoulders. "I could beat you on a football pitch any day." She challenged him, an echo of her old self, the kind that enjoyed ribbing Sav endlessly. "Buy a drink and I'll tell you all my secrets." She reached over and slapped his arm. "Maybe help you score on the field."

She acted as if she had forgotten that he had been scouted and drafted into Puddlemere united. And maybe she really had forgotten, but his ego liked to think that it was an act, at least. “It’s nice to be playing. It’s kind of like nothing changed in that way. And the people on the team are great.” he admitted. It was nice to be doing literally his favorite thing all day everyday. Or, at least it would be when it picked back up again. She nodded when he said that it was slow because of everything. Based on her response, he could assume she was there, but he wasn’t going to ask about it. He didn’t want to relive it and he couldn’t imagine that she did either.
She went on about football, saying it was great and laughing at her teammates not knowing about Quidditch or anything like that. She said if he bought her a drink, she’d spill all her secrets. He smirked, but then thought about it. “Actually that’s not a bad idea, you wannah go for a drink? If you don’t have anything else to do, that is? I’m in no hurry to get home.” katherine knew he’d be out for a while and he was happy to connect with an old friend in one of the pubs here. He had connections at the Hogshead he wanted to visit.

SO MAYBE HE REALLY DIDN'T HAVE MUCH TO missing from his life after graduation. It sounded like Sav went from School Quidditch Star to Professional Quidditch Star. And it suited him as well, his brown skin healthy and rested. Teeth photography white when he smiled. He looked like an autograph waiting to happen. She hated him a little for it. She wanted him a little more.
A drink sounded like the perfect way to lose some time, Ana nodded her head, looping her arm in to his easy and guiding the way out of the shop without a second glance. "I can't think of anything better." She grinned at him, tongue in cheek. She'd went on a date with Sav once, what felt like a million years ago. And though they'd practically spent the whole event bickering about Quidditch she remembered it had been pretty decent kisser, too. A real giver.
The air was cool and dry as they stepped out, Ana leading the way across the cobbled streets towards the Three Broomsticks. "They're gonna think I'm some easy drunk," Ana said conversationally, peering up at Sav. She'd forgotten how tall he was. "I've already been over twice before." This revealed just how long Ana had been wandering Hogsmeade, but she didn't think about that as she shed her duffel by the door and entered the warm, dimly lit pub. It wasn't busy, to her overwhelming relief.

Ana agreed to get a drink with him and Sav nodded happily that she had. “Well good. We can swing back on the shop later, if they’re still open.” he suggested. He still kind of wanted to get something to bother Katherine with. They left the shop and started down the village lane towards the pubs at the far end. Sav laughed when she said that they barkeep would think she was an easy drunk because she had already been there a time or two. “Well let’s patronize the Hogshead then. One of the barkeeps is a friend of mine. Used to supply me with bottles to take to the castle before I was old enough to buy them myself.” he told her, a smug look on his face. His charisma had come in handy.
They got to the pub and he held the door open for her before leading her up to the empty bar and taking a seat on one of the hard, wooden barstools. His friend wasn’t working, but that didn’t mean he didn’t want to stay. He always thought he was cooler for wanting to come to the dingy pub instead of heading straight for the three broomsticks. “Can we get two double shots of firewhisky on ice?” he ordered for the both of them, looking over to Ana to make sure she was okay with the order.

ANA HADN'T REALLY PLANNED TO BUY ANYTHING so it was an easy loss for her. She'd simply wanted to do something to occupy her mind, so whether or not they made it back before closing didn't bother her. The prospect of a drink and a flirt sounded far more appealing. Her passing comment wouldn't have stopped her if it hadn't been for Sav's reply. She leaned away, her brows pulled together curiously as she eyed the sharp jut of his jaw. "You got a dark side, huh, Macmillian." She nudged him expectantly. "God, you just got 20 degrees hotter." Clucking her tongue.
In the pub, which was far darker and dimmer than the Three Broomsticks, Ana realised she hadn't been in it very often at all. It was emptier, with people preferring to haunt the corners than hold court in the middle. At their seats, Ana had barely sat down when Sav fired off an order, lifting her brows. He wasn't messing around either, his replying expression almost tempting her to refuse. She smiled instead, turning her chin up to the waiter. "Make it four." She grinned, turning back to Sav as if to say 'checkmate'. He might beat her on a Quidditch pitch, but he couldn't out drink her.

He let a loud laugh escape his lips when she said that he got hotter when he told her how he used to get his booze before he was told enough to purchase it himself. It was one of the best things he had managed to accomplish during his years at Hogwarts. “How do you think every punch bowl at every party ended up getting everyone drunk?” he smirked. He had almost always brought a flask to dump into the bowls. Never had he gotten caught. But he did loosen the reins his last year and let others start to follow in his footsteps. He wanted to make sure someone had it under control once he graduated. Someone needed to continue his legacy.
She seemed pleased by his order, but not impressed. She told the waiter to double the order and he nodded, going off to make the drinks. Sav raised an eyebrow at the brunette to his side. “You looking for trouble?” he teased.

SO MAYBE ANA HADN'T KNOWN SAV QUITE AS well as she'd made out. Her confusion turning to laughter at his bold confession. "Okay..." She snickered, leaning in to his side easily. "I guess I have you to thank for every good night I ever had." She looked up at him, a soft smile on her face, poking fun but only just. "How ever will I repay you?" He'd never seemed the type in school. A hottie, for sure. But, also the type to ask how you were the day after you hooked up. He'd even had a cute little girlfriend at one point, Ana recalled. But, everybody had secrets, right?
"Always." Ana replied quickly, without a second thought. Leaning her elbow on the bar top and turning herself to face him fully. She placed both of her feet on the rungs of his stool, pulling herself towards him slightly. A step toward making the interaction as intimate as she'd like. "But, isn't that why you liked me?" She asked, one brow cocking a half inch above the other. It was bold, they'd only hooked up once or twice, a space filler for company. Just hot enough to interesting, but not enough to lay roots. The description could be given to most of Ana's teenage liaisons.

She suggested that she had him to thank for every fun night she ever had and he smirked, his ego was thankful for the boost. Not that he needed it. “I’m sure you can think of something.” he winked easily, not expecting anything to come of it, however. But looking at Ana, he couldn’t help but think about the fun that they used to have. And the conversations between him and Katherine popped into his head. He’d bring this encounter up to her for sure. Maybe it would peak her interest. Maybe it would peak Anas. Ana certainly had peaked his interest.
The bartender brought their drinks as he agreed that she was looking for trouble and asked if that was why he had liked her. He nodded, “yeah probably one of the reasons.” he admitted easily. He wondered if she knew that he had a girlfriend and that they were as serious as they were. They had been dating at Hogwarts, but hadn’t labeled anything until after graduation. It was weird, to be dating. Sav never was good at monogamy. He was far from bored with Katherine, but there was still just something that was unfulfilled in him. And she felt the same way. He threw back the first of his drinks, easily. But he knew these were meant to be sipped. He couldn’t say he wasn’t showing off, just a little bit.
