THE YOUNGER GOYLE FOUND HERSELF shrugging at her brother's suggestions. "I was thinking more of a cat or an owl..Dogs require too much energy and I feel I don't have the attention span for them at all.." She paused momentarily before remembering. "A pet like yours would be perfect..Baron barely moved or did anything extreme when I visited..But then again all cats aren't really like him.." Bryelle found herself rambling in her mind over her choice of a pet for the future, despite having no secure plan on even ensuring her departure from her family home right after graduation.
Though, considering she had submitted her choice for internships, the deadline was still fairly far away, meaning that she still had time to change her mind about it all together. Bryelle hummed quietly regardless, looking up at her brother as he spoke again, suggesting that she should work for him and that transferring as an intern was easy. It pushed all the brakes within the Goyle's mind, knowing that she needed to come up with a plausible answer to respectfully decline. Aside from the words 'I've decided to become a Hit-Witch.' That wasn't the ideal choice right now. "I feel I would get bored of it too quickly. Being behind any kind of desk for too long." She replied before pausing momentarily. "Of course I'm not saying its a bad choice overall...Just..I know how I can get when I'm not stimulated enough."
Renard then went on, mentioning that if she had anything in mind that he would help her out, as he had some connections within other departments. It led to the younger Goyle nodding and thanking her brother quietly before she swallowed the large lump that developed in her throat. "What about..the Magical Law Enforcement department?..Like the Hit Witches and Wizards?.." She felt her choice of wording felt fairly vague - at least to not present the fact that she had already applied for the internship in that department, but knowing Renard better than their own parents, he could piece together almost anything from the faintest of crumbs.

▲ Renard chuckled at the description of his cat. Baron was indeed a lazy piece of shit. He essentially had the run of the flat, and Renard simply payed the rent once per month. His food, water, and litter box were charmed to take care of themselves at specific intervals throughout the day. The only thing that remained was human interaction, which the cat honestly disliked. If he wanted attention, he came looking for it. Often times Renard forgot he even had a cat, only remembering when there were glowing eyes staring back at him down the hallway at three in the morning. Did that make him a horrible pet owner? Absolutely. But the relationship he held with his cat worked for both of them and they seemed to get along well enough with the way things currently were. “He’s used to being pampered,” Renard lied. Though would that get his cat to move and be active? Probably. That was worth a test for sure. He held his hand comically his heart as if he was wounded when his sister said that desk work would get too boring. That, ultimately, was the worst part about working for the Ministry. Every single detail had to be noted down and sent to records. He personally found that policy asinine, though it was starting to get better now that computers were being integrated. Forms could easily be filled out versus dealing with scrolls. And he didn’t even want to get started about sending things between floors. The older Ministry employees complained about when owls were used? The flying letters was asking to have a papercut at least once per week. Dodging out of the way of them was exhausting. “You’ll be doing paperwork no matter where you end up, to be honest,” he admitted. “Even Law Enforcement.” He purposely highlighted that one because she was now asking about it. Bryelle wanting to get into the Hit Department was definitely an interesting picture in his head, but he could sort of see it. “Supposedly its difficult training. You’ll have to stick to it for a couple of years before they assign you. Or so I’ve heard.” As opposed to his job, where most of it was stuff you learned on the fly. Dealing with ghouls stuck into cabinets below a sink didn’t come with an instruction manual. They were mostly harmless as well. Going into the Hit Department, they had to train you to deal with people first. Ones that could sling spells back. He had his own share of dangerous creatures he dealt with, but people were so much worse. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

SCOFFING QUIETLY, BRYELLE KNEW THAT her brother was lying. "Pampered?" She questioned with a grin. "Didn't you once say he swatted your hand when you went to pet his head? Sounds like tough love to me." She added, knowing that while Baron was a 'mean' cat from first glances, the younger Goyle could find the soft spot he has for people. Thinking of Baron now only made the brunette realise that she would probably want a cat of her own, given the opportunity.
Laughing at her brother's dramatic actions, Bryelle knew that while life behind a desk suited Renard's simple lifestyle, while she loved her brother and would always thank him for essentially raising her, they were still different after all. "You know what I mean." She added, hoping to wipe away at any offence. "But true.." She mumbled, especially as he mentioned about Law Enforcement.
As he mentioned that the training was difficult and somewhat long before she would be assigned, Bryelle found a pout coming along. She loved challenges of course, but her attention span to most things was fairly thin. "Do..You know anyone in that department?" She curiously asked, knowing now it was fairly obvious that she had more of an interest in that department versus anything else. "Or anyone in other departments that you'd recommend..I guess?"

▲ Bryelle wasn’t wrong: his relationship with the Baron had been a tumultuous one. While his sister had decided to call it tough love, it was definitely akin to that, but not fully. They coexisted in the same flat more than anything, though the cat knew Renard was the one that kept him alive by giving him food and water. Near the end they were definitely starting to come around to one another, and he figured that it probably had to do with the fact that he was actually coming home at the end of the work day instead of going directly to the casino or the pub until an ungodly hour. Amazing how seeing one another could change feelings in such a way. “He did more than swat at me,” Renard said quietly, remembering how often times his hands became chew toys if the Baron felt like playing. He never really understood what the cat actually wanted out of that, but he was seemingly content with gnawing on a knuckle every couple of days. Renard hadn’t the foggiest what had led the cat to such an act, especially when he seemed happy doing so. She wanted recommendations for other departments, or at least people to talk to in them, and Renard hesitated. Bryelle knew how he was with other people…he didn’t like them and vice-versa. If anything, sending her to someone else with his name attached would only hurt her chances of getting a meeting. “I could definitely ask around? I’m sure a few people owe me a favor or two.” Mostly from him clearing out pixies or some other nuisance. “To be honest Breeny…I don’t have too many close acquaintances at the Ministry. They don’t like the way I go about certain things within my department.” It always came back around to the werewolves, which if they gave him a chance to explain his thought process, they would understand wasn’t the worst thing in the world. He wanted them eradicated, of course, but by being cured. Everyone cut him off halfway through and then developed their own thoughts on the matter, when he was advocating for advancements in a permanent fix. Being the anti-werewolf villain worked well for them though, and yet they still had him going to the hotel once a month because he was the one that knew it best. Ironic. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

LAUGHING QUIETLY AT HER BROTHER'S response, Bryelle recalled a moment or two where there would be a small gash here or a scratch there on Renard's hands. But then again, even the quietest and laziest of cats tended to be playful. Or at least Bryelle had heard from others' experiences and stories of course. "That would explain the cuts and bite marks." She replied, smile turning into a small grin. "He's still cute though...I'd gladly let him do what he wished. Minus peeing in the incorrect place anyway.." The thought of cleaning up something like that only grossed the younger Goyle.
As Renard replied, mentioning he could ask around and prod at favours that others potentially owed him, Bryelle nodded. "In..that case then.." Bryelle began, adjusting the way she sat so she sat up a bit more. "Maybe don't mention you're asking for your sister?..I actually want to be liked you see." Renard wasn't the typical social or..kind person. Of course Bryelle saw sides that others probably didn't have the privilege of seeing, with the main reason being that the two were siblings. But truthfully she knew that Renard simply hated social interactions and just...Other people in general. Which was ironic considering the younger Goyle was the complete opposite. Sometimes she needed to be told to shut up.
"But what do you mean about...Certain things?" She asked, fairly curious. "Is it anything to do with..the way you handle the creatures or?.." Bryelle knew of her brothers' line of work, but when specifically asked about things he did or might have to do, her mind drew at blanks. That and she hadn't particularly shown much interest to his office job...Before now anyway. It was sort of one of the reasons as to why the Gryffindor was more than willing to take on Hit-Witch training, as the thought of being confined to a desk most of the time seemed..Completely draining.

▲ The only way his cat would ever miss his mark was if Renard did something to piss him off, which would probably be fair at that point. Keeping him in a state of comfort was of utmost importance. And here Renard thought that he was the one that ran things at his flat… “Unless he turns into a dog and runs off with my wand, a mistake every now and then isn’t worth worrying over,” he tacked on after his sister finished her thought. Magic fixed everything, really. Without a house elf, having charmed cleaning rags and other objects set to handle problems was necessary. That was also why he never really worried about his cat, who quite frankly probably enjoyed his time on his own as much as Renard did sometimes. Right…they were probably going to have to discuss all of this at one point or another. As much as he thought highly of his own work within his department (and he was fairly decent at it, the results showed that), there were some that still refused to listen to him in regards to the werewolf situation. He had been hesitant to tell Bryelle about that part of his work, mostly because he was worried by how it would look. “Well…” he started and stopped almost immediately. Merlin, how was he supposed to go about this? It very well could impact how others within the Ministry viewed her, which wasn’t something he wanted nor had ever really thought about. Their parents were a laughing stock and he had his own issues. It didn’t have to be the same for Bryelle as well. He cleared his throat before continuing, “There are some that don’t approve of how I talk about the current laws surrounding werewolves.” His voice lowered immediately, because he really didn’t want anyone else catching bits and pieces and misconstruing what he was about to say. “Please let me finish before you say anything, because I swear it’s important to hear everything I have to say. No one ever does, and that’s why they think I’m some sort of zealot.” Taking a deep breath, Renard laid it all out, “I dislike werewolves. It’s an active plague and they’re a horrible accident waiting to happen, and all it takes is a new pack led by Fenrir Greyback or for a bad batch of Wolfsbane to be distributed to those that stay at the hotel. So that’s why I think there should be stricter legislation surrounding how they’re handled each month and for more serious action to be taken against those that purposefully bite and infect others. And Wolfsbane needs to have better distribution.” Finishing, he hadn’t even realized how fast he was talking. Usually he got cut off within the first sentence or two, but he wasn’t giving any space for that this time. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

BREYLLE COULDN'T HELP BUT LAUGH once more at her brother's words before adjusting how she sat on his couch, so the younger Goyle sat more comfortably. "True..but I wouldn't know how to actually raise a cat since mine ran away when we were younger.." Their parents never offered to replace the small black kitten she had received as a gift for actually 'getting in' into Hogwarts, which Bryelle always wondered the reason why. Maybe it was because she was sorted into Gryffindor instead of Slytherin like the long line of Goyles had...Who knew?
While Bryelle idolised her brother in a general aspect, she knew the elder she grew, the more she would realise that the two have many differences in regards to things. It didn't mean she liked her brother any less, but she also figured that there were things he was keeping from her, similarly to how the younger Goyle would keep things from him. "Well?.." She repeated, her brows raising from confusion and mere interest. But as Renard went on, Bryelle tried to nod in understanding, even though she was a little lost.
As she let her brother speak, Bryelle's brows furrowed together as she tried to piece her brothers reasoning for disliking werewolves as a whole. It somewhat made sense, as month by month the Gryffindor assumed it was hard for the Ministry staff to ensure the werewolves were in check - especially during full moons. "I..kind of get it?..but I also anticipated you to have your own views about something like that anyway.." Bryelle trailed off for a moment, trying to piece her words together.
"So because of how you feel..you're kind of judged for it?" She questioned. "At least that's what I'm understanding, you hate them because if somethings done wrong it could lead to a shitshow?"

▲ Everything else in their conversation thus far paled in comparison to the werewolf issue they were discussing now. Literally didn't even come close. He could go on and on about the issues surrounding the current legislation for werewolves and how it needed to be changed for the better. No one ever gave him the time of day for it though because they thought it was already progressive enough to solve the issues of old. Renard hated being looked at like he was a three-headed dog, because he really wasn't. Privately he knew there were top officials within the Ministry that agreed with him, they were all just too afraid to be outspoken about it. Probably because they used to be hardcore opponents to it. Which he wasn't. He wanted the best for the werewolves, just less werewolves. That didn't seem like too much to ask for in his opinion. "I hate the werewolf, not the person. Everyone always treats them as the same thing but they absolutely aren't. A wild and rampant werewolf has zero humanity left in it as long as it's under the effects of the full moon. They aren't cute and cuddly dogs like we currently pretend they are." He didn't mean to raise his voice the way he did, but the excitement of someone finally listening to him on it was too much to hold it back. Bryelle would've given her ear years ago if he'd wanted to thrust it on her, but he always figured it would be better until she was older. "Many werewolves are victims themselves, so if we put more time and money into finding a cure or stopping those that are turning people, the problem would be solved." It was all so stupidly easy that it made his head spin when others disagreed with him. Putting a stop to it and preventing further victims of lycanthropy meant the societal issues werewolves still faced would eventually go away. Because no werewolves would exist. Same with finding a cure. But yeah, he was the bad guy. People just needed to listen because he knew he was right. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

WHILE BRYELLE KNEW HOW HER brother was, she also knew that not everyone was willing to hear him out for his arguments or opinions. Truthfully, she didn't mind about her brothers thoughts, morals and ideals unless he was a secret serial killer. So as Renard went on, mentioning how he hated the werewolf and not the person, Bryelle only understood more. "You hate the actual dark beast or dark being..part about them?" She asked, wanting to clarify. She could understand where he was coming from though, considering that dark beings were the ones that caused havoc in a situation, but not particularly..the person.
Seeing that her brother was passionate about such a topic only made the younger Goyle feel somewhat relieved. She knew he had his..particular interests, ones that they couldn't really bond over - but she also liked their differences. It allowed them to talk and butt heads if they needed to. "But wouldn't you say sometimes the werewolf is a part of who they are?..Like if they could control it?.." She questioned, knowing - or at least remembering from her conversations with Lily, that the urge to do things was just simply there. There was no control in regards to anything.
"Do you think that would even be possible though?..A cure?" Did people even want to be cured? These were probably the same questions Bryelle would turn to Lily with, but knowing Lily..who knows what kind of answers she'd give.

▲ “I see no difference between the two,” he responded earnestly. To differentiate meant to draw a line where one was a little better than the other, which absolutely was not true. The line was between humanity and creature. Once they had shifted into the werewolf, they were no longer human. It wasn’t like with vampires where they were still the same being fully, one-hundred percent of the time. That did not exist for the werewolf. There was human and there was wolf. The infantilization of the entire group by the public and Ministry would eventually lead to more harm than good. How no one saw locking up the majority of the werewolf population inside the hotel once per month as a cause for concern was beyond him. All it took was one bad actor to let them all out. And then there would be a real issue at hand. Wolfsbane or not, werewolves were still killers. As for the werewolf being a ‘part’ of the person that was inflicted with lycanthropy, he had no idea. “I supposed that depends on the individual, right? Look at Fenrir Greyback. Mass murderer, dark wizard, werewolf. Among his many other horrible, horrible crimes. He very clearly controls it enough whilst in his human form to cause lasting damage on those that have survived him.” Not to mention all those effected by his monthly turnings. The only reason the world governments knew he was still alive was because of the constant new turns that had similar descriptions to the serial killer. “But as far as I am aware, no individual out there can control themselves once the turn has happened. I would be more than happy to be proven wrong.”The cure. There was always that. An unreachable goal? Maybe. There seemed to be improvements upon the monthly potion though, so who knew. Steps were being made in potion making that could eventually lead to it. If wizardkind could figure out how to become an animagus, they would eventually do the same with reversing lycanthropy. Considering the Wolfsbane potion was only a few decades old, to reach this point already was astounding. “I think a potioneer would be better suited to answer that question. I would definitely welcome it though.”Renard had almost forgotten that they were in a maze, their conversation having dominated most of their time within the hedges. Apparently they had made their final turn, the exit right in front of them now. “Can’t forget to collect our wands. There were a few other stands I wanted to check out still too,” he mused as he headed toward where they had left their wands at the start. [Renard End] MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0
