Dom nodded, impressed when Jamie said that she modified an impervious charm to keep the book safe. Dom smiled, "Well I appreciate you taking care of the book." She wasn't sure if she knew anyone else that would care enough to make a scavenger hunt for her, but if they did, they probably wouldn't care as much about her books. "I'd like to learn that," Dom answered, agreeing to Jamie's idea to show her the spell sometime. Dom liked knowing uncommon things. She laughed at Jamie's comment about the Quidditch robes. That was a shame, but still funny to her. She looked at Jamie, a little more serious than she'd been the entire time. "Thanks for this Jamie. I really needed it." Dom reached forward to give the girl a hug and then pulled away quickly. She didn't know if Jamie liked physical contact or not. She ran to the banister. "Let's go!" She said cheerfully, sliding down and giggling as she did so.

Jamie smiled at Dom. “What’s the point in a scavenger hunt if the items you hid are ruined in the end?” She asked. Especially since those items weren’t hers to ruin in the first place. She didn’t want to get on Dom’s bad side for something that was supposed to fun. Dom agreed that she’d like to learn the spell, and Jamie liked it. “We can put it on the docket for the list of things to do during our meeting.” Jamie said. If the two of them were going to through the effort of coordinating their schedules for a meeting, they might as well make the most of it. “It’s no problem Dom. Really.” Jamie said, accepting the other girl’s hug with a smile. “I like finding creative ways to force people to slow down a little.” Jamie said, sliding down the banister after Dominique did. “Why bother taking a break at all if you’re not going to have fun when you’re on it?” She asked as they headed out for the second floor.

Dom shrugged, "Point taken, but I still appreciate it." Not that Dom would get overly upset if there was dirt in one of her books because of something like this, but she knew herself and it would become an annoyance if it hindered her studies. She nodded with a smile. "Consider it added to that list." Dom giggled. "We're going to have fun, huh?" It was nice to be planning on getting together with someone just for the purpose of talking and learning new things. Dom didn't normally plan those types of things. She smiled when Jamie said that it was no problem. "That doesn't mean I don't appreciate it," Dom muttered softly. It was easy to think that pulling someone out of sadness was an easy thing to do, but the problem was that most people assumed someone else was helping and that they weren't needed. Which was one of the reasons Dom appreciated Jamie's efforts so much. She'd obviously gone out of her way to help Dom. "I only take breaks so I can have fun," Dom teased as she started walking down the next corridor, searching for more books. Now she had a few more ideas of places to check, so this was going to take a while.

Jamie wasn’t going to insist that it was nothing if Dom wanted to be appreciative of Jamie taking special care of her books. It had really been good for her, if anything, since it had forced her to practice her charms work a little more vigorously than she probably would have otherwise. “We are!” Jamie exclaimed enthusiastically when Dom asked if they were going to have fun together. She rarely had a bad time when a Weasley was concerned (as always, with the exception of Lucy). The conversation came back around to Dom appreciating Jamie, and the werewolf smiled. “I just want you to remember that you always have someone in your corner.” The Hufflepuff said. That way the Ravenclaw would realize that an effort had been made, but it had been made because Jamie cared about her, and wanted her to feel better. The scavenger hunt was really doing wonders in making Jamie feel closer to Dom, and she hoped that when the time was right, the other girl might feel comfortable telling Jamie about the things that were bringing her down a notch. “Do you take breaks to eat?” Jamie asked. “Or do you consider eating fun?” She added, since some people definitely did thing of eating as an exercise in self-care. Jamie watched as Dom began checking around the second floor, resisting the urge to ask if she wanted another hint so the Hufflepuff wouldn’t have to think of a rhyme again.

Jamie seemed so excited that they were going to get together another time and Dom smiled. She never really paid that much attention to Jamie before now, but now she was kind of regretting it. Jamie was fun and energetic and seemed to really want to help Dom, which wasn't something that Dom normally liked, but she was enjoying it at the moment, so it was a good thing. "I'll remember that," Dom told her, glad when she realized that she actually meant it. Maybe she would go far enough to search out Jamie when she was having a hard day, because she knew those weren't about to stop for her. She laughed when Jamie mentioned food. "Have you seen me eat in the Great Hall?" Dom asked in a teasing tone. "Of course eating counts as fun!" With the way Dom ate, it often was, mixing together her favorite foods and finding new things to try. "Is that your way of telling me you're hungry?" Dom asked, turning around in the hallway and wiggling her eyebrows at the Hufflepuff girl. She wanted to find her books, but she wasn't averse to a break if Jamie needed one.

Dom said that she was going to remember that there was someone on her side, and Jamie smiled at her as sincerely as she could manage, hopeful that the other girl actually meant it, and wasn’t just saying so so Jamie would be off of her back. When it came to the food and whether or not Jamie had seen Dom eat, there was only one answer Jamie could give in good conscience. “As a matter of fact, I haven’t.” Jamie said with a little shrug. She didn’t have much of a reason to eat at the Ravenclaw table, since Dom was really her only friend in Ravenclaw, and she hadn’t started considering Dom a friend, and not just an acquaintance, until earlier that day. “But I’m glad you can see food as fun!” Sometimes Jamie had trouble with that, especially when the full moon approached and she just felt ill in general. “I’m not that hungry. But food and sleep are necessities you definitely need to take a break for, and food was easier to ask about.” Asking Dom about her sleeping patterns just seemed invasive in a way Jamie was not yet prepared for.

Dom laughed when Jamie said that she hadn't seen her eat. "That's probably a good thing," she admitted, a little chagrined. "I tend to make a mess when I eat. And I eat too much. And I really like trying strange combinations of food." She shrugged. "So yes, I have fun with it." Then Jamie mentioned how food and sleep were important things to take a break for and Dom's smile fell a little. She turned away from Jamie a little and started looking once more. She was not going to get emotional right now. She was not! Nor would she mention the fact that she didn't sleep very much anymore. "I eat and sleep," she said after searching for a few seconds. She didn't want Jamie to think she was upset with her. She was looking for her book again, but now Dom was distracted, thinking about how hard it was to sleep ever since she got back with her conversation with Vic. Fine, it started a little before that, but it definitely got worse then.

Jamie chuckled when Dom said it was a good thing that Jamie hadn’t seen her eat. Once again, Jamie was tempted to make a reference to Muggle culture that Dominique wouldn’t understand. “Sometime, I’m going to show you Sesame Street.” Jamie declared. “I think you and Cookie Monster would get along well.” The furry blue creature was so messy when he ate that he barely got anything in his mouth, and even if Dominique wasn’t quite that bad, Jamie was sure that she would find it humorous. “You should give me food combinations to try!” Jamie enthused. She had a fairly strong stomach (especially when it came to meat and meat products) so trying out something weird sounded like a lot of fun. “I’m glad to hear it.” Jamie said when Dominique insisted that she both ate and slept, even though the other girl seemed slightly distressed. “Do you need help with finding the book?” Jamie asked gently, unsure if that was why Dom was upset but wanting to help in whatever way she could.

"Sesame Street? What is that?" Dom asked curiously, intrigued by whatever Jamie was talking about. Did it have something to do with eating? Maybe a cooking movie or something. Then Jamie said she would get along with the cookie monster and Dom's eyebrows furrowed a little as she thought. Then she smiled, "Well I do like cookies, so probably." That probably wouldn't fit in with what Jamie was saying, but whatever. Dom didn't care. Dom's smile widened. "I can do that! I'll have to think about it a little though. I'll give you food combinations at our meeting." Man, that meeting was going to be a big thing, whenever they actually did it. Dom was excited. Jamie's voice then got quiet and Dom felt almost positive that Jamie thought she did something wrong, which wasn't the case. Dom bit her lip, feeling slightly guilty. "I'm sorry. I didn't meant to ... sound upset," even though she was. It wasn't Jamie's fault. "I just ... it's hard." Dom's voice cracked and she stopped trying to explain. "Umm do you have another hint?" she asked after a few seconds, trying to get a hold on her emotions.

Jamie had been expecting the question about Sesame Street, so she was more than ready to answer it. “It’s a kid’s television program. It has a bunch of puppets and they teach you life lessons and make you laugh. It’s really fun to watch, even as a teenager.” Well, it was fun for Jamie to watch, but she wasn’t sure how much of that was her actually having fun and how much of it was nostalgia. Jamie smiled at Dom’s comments about liking cookies. “Once there was a rumor that Cookie Monster was going to become the Veggie Monster. There was outrage all around!” Jamie said with a laugh. That would be a fun story to tell in detail sometime, even though Jamie’s synopsis had given away the most interesting parts. “This meeting is going to end up being all day if we’re not careful.” Jamie said, not at all opposed to the idea but aware that she and Dom were making an awful lot of plans and they’d probably end up not being able to go through with all of them at once. “It’s fine.” Jamie said softly when Dom said that she didn’t mean to sound upset. “We can take a break from our break if you want.” Jamie said, not willing to give the hint until she was sure Dominique was okay.

Dom smiled, not really sure what Jamie was talking about. Puppets on a television show? It sounded interesting, but she'd have to wait until she got the chance to see it. Then it would probably make more sense. "You mean, he liked cookies but they were going to make him eat vegetables instead? That's just mean!" She wasn't sure that's what Jamie was saying, but hoped she wasn't too far off base. Dom shrugged at Jamie's warning. "Well we can have it be all day or we can split it up and do different things on different days," she said rationally, intentionally not saying they could just not do some of the things. She wanted to do it all with Jamie, though she didn't really care when. Jamie suggested a break from the break, which was normally something Dom would refuse to do, but she was feeling tired and sad again, so she nodded and sat down on a bench. She bent forward, putting her head in her hands. "I can't sleep most nights," she whispered softly. Hopefully Jamie would be able to hear her, since she was actually saying it out loud. "I can't get him out of my head." Jamie probably wouldn't know who she was talking about, the fact that she and Ethan started dating right before he died wasn't common knowledge in the school. Everyone assumed it was hard for Dom because they were best friends. That was part of it, but not all.

Jamie nodded rapidly when Dom made a guess about the fate of Cookie Monster, not able to help herself from laughing at the other girl’s indignation, which had been so like her own when she had found out. At her warning about their meeting taking forever, the Ravenclaw had a few suggestions. “Different days might be easier. That way you won’t get sick of me.” Jamie teased. She doubted that she and Dom could get sick of each other. Overwhelmed occasionally, on Jamie’s part, but not sick of each other. They had already spent what, an hour, together, and Jamie was still going strong. It was easier to be with Dom when it was just the two of them, Jamie decided, because then she could help moderate the other girl a little more. Dominique agreed to take a break, which Jamie was glad of, because she thought that the other girl looked the slightest bit pale. The Hufflepuff sat next to the Ravenclaw on the bench that she had chosen, expecting to sit in silence while Dom gathered her strength, but was surprised when the other girl admitted that she couldn’t sleep most nights. Someone – a boy – was stuck in her head. “Who?” Jamie asked softly. “How can I help?” That was all Jamie wanted to do: help Dom feel better.

Dom smiled, proud of herself for guessing right about the Cookie Monster. She liked guessing right. She nodded, "Alright, different days it is," Dom said with a smile. "We can choose when later? Maybe we should choose a specific day each week." Then Dom rolled her eyes. "I don't get sick of people. Normally they get sick of me first," Dom teased. She still had her head resting in her hands, but she noticed when Jamie sat down next to her. It took Jamie a few seconds to respond and she asked who Dom was talking about. Dom took a deep breath and closed her eyes. "Ethan," she breathed, gasping slightly when his face popped up in her mind's eye. She opened her eyes and turned to look at Jamie. She shrugged slowly, "I don't know what to do about it, much less what someone else can do for me." She wasn't going for sympathy, but said things the way she saw them, as always.

Jamie nodded when Dom agreed to separating their meeting into different days, nodding again when Dom suggested choosing days later. Jamie made a face at Dom when the other girl said that she didn’t get sick of other people, but they got sick of her. Few people would admit to getting sick of other people in the first place, but Jamie had a feeling that everyone felt that they were the one who was being gotten sick of – if that made any sense. Jamie wasn’t able to puzzle over it, though, because Dom’s mental state was obviously fragile and she required all of Jamie’s attention. The name Ethan rang a bell, and Jamie searched through her memory a moment before she realized that Ethan was the name of the Ravenclaw boy who had been killed the year before, on April Fool’s Day. Jamie honestly wasn’t sure what to do in this situation, and that was scary. “You don’t have to have all the answers, Dom.” Jamie said softly. “But if it’s keeping you from sleeping, I think a good first step would be talking to the nurses and getting some sleeping potions. Then when you’re better rested you can decide what else you need to do to feel better.” Trying to make any decision, especially emotional ones, was difficult enough without adding fatigue on top of it.

Jamie was being so sweet and Dom really appreciated her listening, probably more than the girl would ever know, but this wasn't something that one could just understand. She nodded, forcing a rather fake smile at Jamie when she said that Dom didn't need all the answers. Dom didn't need answers, she just ... didn't know how to help herself get past this. It had been was too long and yet she was still caught up in last April Fool's Day. Then she shook her head at Jamie's next solution. "I don't do sleeping potions. Besides, they won't help. Part of the reason I don't sleep is because of the dreams," Dom admitted. She took a deep breath. Maybe explaining a little more would help. "We just started dating. A few weeks before the attack. I ... I love him." Yes, Dom was fully aware of the fact that Ethan was dead, but she couldn't talk about him in the past tense. It hurt too much. Beside,s she did still love him. Well, as long as Dom was confessing things, she might as well get it out there. "I've been in love with him since first year, when he became my best friend. I don't .... I just ..." Dom didn't know what else to say, so she lowered her face back into her hands and waited to hear what Jamie would say. She probably said too much and Jamie wouldn't know what to do now.
