“It seems pretty lively,” Riley commented. One look at the rest of the room told Max he wasn't wrong.
“Why aren't you dancing or something? Did my sister not want to tag along with you?”
Unless she ended up finishing the entire cup of punch, which she was beginning to think was a real possibility, dancing wasn't really something that Max planned on doing. Not in public and not with plenty of other people around to watch her make a fool of herself. As for the other question Riley had had for her, “I haven't seen her here,” Max offered him, unhelpful as it was. “I was actually looking for the Linleys,” she said, “but I don't think they're coming, either.” She shrugged. Jamie had already offered to pass along to them that she'd been looking for them, so that was the best she'd get.
When Riley joked about how much of his punch he'd already managed to consume (“You wouldn't tell by looking at it,” he said), Max forced a laugh.
Hers, on the other hand, she had only touched because she had felt obligated to drink it. “It's not the worst,” she lied. “Fruity.” She'd had poison that had tasted better.

Riley was beginning to quite enjoy their conversation, he wondered if this was her first time at an event like this, it maybe that was why she wasn't enjoying her drink. It didn't surprise him that his sister had chose to sit this one out, she wasn't much for fun like this, if he recalled correctly. Still, people could change and he tried to never assume, especially when he could find out easily. "Linley's: the Hufflepuffs from America, right?" he found transfer students interesting as there was a whole cultural transition there. He didn't know either of them well, but he knew of them something he could say about most people at Hogwarts. "Are you close with them or something?" he asked. He noticed the forced tone in her laugh immediately and decided he really didn't want to be uncomfortable, "You know, no one will mind if you just set that down and forget about it. It's not for everybody." he insisted.

Jamie smiled at Liona when the other girl agreed about the thousands of words comment. It had been many, many words, but at the same time felt like no words at all. It was kind of how Jamie could spend an hour writing Liona and have it feel like a minute… but with the physical representation of the time she spent instead of the time itself. Liona seemed a bit surprised by Jamie’s assertion that she didn’t know how to dance at these sorts of things, and the Hufflepuff blushed a little. “Just because I’ve been to a party doesn’t mean I’ve danced at one.” Jamie said. And she had been to parties before, including common room parties. It wasn’t atypical for her to celebrate Quidditch wins that way, but after a hard-won game, dancing was normally the last thing that Jamie wanted to do. Liona asserted that dancing in the typical party style was simple enough, and Jamie gave her a dubious look. Maybe it was simple for someone like Liona, who was long and willowy and graceful, but Jamie was suddenly aware of all of her awkward, right down to her crooked fingers. Liona started moving, and Jamie watched, slightly mesmerized and not bothering to hide it. She wished that she could move the way Liona was moving, like water flowing over a waterfall, both powerful and smooth at the same time. Jamie just wanted to watch Liona as long as she could, though, not dance herself.

Riley asked to confirm if the Linleys were “the Hufflepuffs from America,” and Max nodded. “Are you close with them or something?” he asked, as though it should be strange that she, the daughter of a werewolf who happened to be a known murderer, would be friends with a brother and sister from the United States of America who had been living in Britain as orphans for a good portion of their lives.
“Georgiana—well, Georgie—Linley's my best friend,” she explained, unable to keep herself from smiling. Georgie was also her first friend and one of the few people whom Max counted as true friends of hers at all. She knew that this party really wouldn't have been Georgie's scene, either. If she had come, Max thought, they probably would have left after looking at how ridiculous everyone else looked, reminding themselves of why they never came to these things in the first place.
“You know, no one will mind if you just set that down and forget about it. It's not for everybody.”
Max was secretly glad that Riley had recognized how uncomfortable she was to have a drink in her hand, since it kept her from having to make up another lie so that she wouldn't have to finish it. “Thanks,” she nodded, quick to set it aside on the nearest table. “How can you drink that?” she asked after turning her attention back to Riley, both amused and a little incredulous.

Riley meant no harm by his question, he was simply getting to know the young woman, having a casual conversation with someone who was friends with a member of his family. "That's nice." he said when she told him that she and Georgiana were best friends, and he meant it, it was rather sweet. "It's good to have friends." he added with a kind smile. "Did they say they were coming? Maybe she just lost track of time." it was easy enough to do, especially in a castle that took anyone 15 minutes to get anywhere, it was a wonder he wasn't late for classes more often.
She was relieved when he told her she didn't have to drink it and he smiled. He had enjoyed watching her squirm with her drink for a moment or two, but he really didn't want her to think she had to give into peer pressure just to have fun or be accepted. He shrugged when she asked how he was drinking it, "Rather like the taste, I do." he smirked, watching the amused look take over her face. His hyper-observancy was a fun little tool, but there were some times that it wasn't even necessary to use, some people were comfortable enough with themselves and their emotions, and those people were the ones he found himself he most drawn to. "Perhaps it's an acquired taste." he had never had it before in his life, but it was possible that when you aged, as your taste buds changed, you acquired the taste for such things. He was a good 2 years older than her.

Liona continued to move her body to the music, enjoying the way the music made her feel. Luckily enough the dance had been simple, no lessons and practice required and she was actually having fun with it. She occasionally caught Jamie's eye while she moved and she smirked each team. Jamie was staring at her. She knew Jamie's eyes were watching her as she moved and she knew that Jamie's eyes were only watching her on the dance floor. She felt powerful just knowing that. The way the beat made her feel was nothing compared to the rush she felt just knowing that Jamie couldn't keep her eyes off of her. At this point, she just felt like she was putting on a show, just for the blonde's attention even though she was enjoying the dancing. The song slowly mixed and merged into another similar track and she made her way off of the dancefloor back over to the Hufflepuff. "See? Simple," she commented with a laugh just as she got into range of Jamie being able to hear her over the music. When she really got close, she smirked at her and chuckled. "I like you staring. Are you sure you don't want to join," there was a teasing note in her voice as she asked but she'd meant what she'd said. She wouldn't pressure her to dance if she didn't want to. Liona had just wanted to see her. She could have a bit of fun while she was there and she didn't have to have Jamie around to have fun.

When Riley first made his comment about the fact that it was nice to have friends, Maxima was left unsure—for a moment there—about his sincerity. It seemed like an easy thing for which to mock her, although he didn't. “Did they say they were coming?” he asked, referring to the fact that—so far—neither Linley had shown. “Maybe she just lost track of time.”
Max shrugged. “I don't know,” she admitted readily. “I… wasn't really planning to come here, either.” It was the truth, even if she sounded like a bore. “But Lily's sort of like a sister to me, and I knew Jamie would be here… And she is my half-sister, so…” That was her story, anyway, and cutting out the odd pieces to do with the idea that she could heal someone with just her hands only made her look like the introvert she was.
At Riley's admission that he actually enjoyed the taste of the spiked punch, Max shuddered, wondering if he was serious about that. “Perhaps it's an acquired taste,” came his suggestion.
“…Something like that,” Max replied back, not thoroughly convinced of it. It was about as much of an acquired taste as a vomit-flavored Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Bean was an acquired taste, she thought, though Riley clearly wasn't the only one at the party who enjoyed it, by the looks of things. “I haven't had firewhisky before tonight, though I guess you could tell.” She didn't think that she had had enough of it for the alcohol to have any effect on her, but she felt that it was better than getting completely drunk and making a fool of herself, anyhow.

Adonia, she said her name was, or Doni, and Roxy was fascinated. She was the most forward person Roxy thought she'd ever come across, reaching over to play with her cup. But Roxy was a bit contrary when she had a mind to be, and with a bit of alcohol in her, she was much more easily swayed that way. "That's an idea," she agreed, and she took a deep swig from her cup, not breaking eye contact. "But I prefer to drink it a little more slowly. Firewhiskey has more of a chance to work its magic that way," she remarked with a smirk. She held her cup out and tipped it slightly towards Adonia, offering it to the other girl and half-expecting that she'd never get it back.

"Right." he nodded when Max told him that Jamie was her half sister, he knew about the Greyback's, but every body did, at least one some level if not the whole story. It also wasn't hard to put clues together. Riley, however, was hyper-observant and he at least liked to think that he figured everything out on his own, using clues and gestures and little pieces of nonverbal communication, that was the new thing he was studying and he was really getting into it. "Well, not that I'm not enjoying your company, but you know you can leave if you want, I don't think anyone would hold it against you if you were uncomfortable." he admitted, not to sound rude, he didn't mind if the young girl stayed or left, he just wanted to assure her, at least on the surface level that if she wanted to leave, it wouldn't lower her social standing or anything if she was worried about that.
"I've had a few sips before, but nothing substantial." he admitted. It didn't surprise him that she had never had it before. He had never tried it until last summer when he found it in his dad's study and was curious. He just tried a sip and didn't like it much on his own, but mixed with punch it really cut the flavor and he didn't hate it. "Maybe another kind of alcohol is more your taste... wine or champagne perhaps? I hear those are nice." he shrugged, of course, she was only a 5th year, she had plenty of time. And, nothing said she ever had to drink at all if she didn't like it.

At his explanation, Madi tilted her hand in acceptance and said well yeah it would, but that makes this place exotic not strange"and grinned. She then nodded her head at his hinting about the tour and said yeah we should have it soon". With their busy schedules full of classes and free time filled with assignments, she had all but forgotten about the tour she promised Daniel. As he mentioned that he has forgiven her, she stuck her tongue out and said "you would not do such a thing"and mock scowled at his idea of setting Myrtle on her. Madison found her company quite interesting, especially his way with words. Merlin, he definitely was a bad influence on the blonde gryffindor, cause never before had she smirked often in her conversations. She just rolled her eyes at his answer upon her invitation to dance. Yup same old guy, she thought with a shake of her head. Out of the corner of her eye, he saw Sav look at them or was he looking at her? Well no time to concentrate on him, for she now had someone to dance with. She recognized the song as a muggle one from way back in the late 2010's.She then swayed her body to the music and jumped a little, not too much but in a rhythm to the beat and twirled round. Madi had liked the taste of the punch and it would be a shame to not drink it. And since they were near to the table still, she grabbed a glass again and drank it down and grinned at Daniel. Now that she had a second one down, Madi felt that she recognized the taste. It was mild, but it sure was firewhiskey. She grinned to herself and wondered how someone spiked the drink this early into the party. The music was now more loud, and so she leaned in a little towards Daniel and said "someone spiked the punch".@crimson1

"One persons exotic is another persons strange." Daniel said with a laugh as he would have agreed with Madison if he wasn't in the mood to be sarcastic about it for a little bit longer. He hadn't brought up the tour as to remind her or to make it happen faster, he just thought of it for a second while they talked of rooms in Hogwarts. "It's fine I can wait, I'm sure we're all busy with one thing or another." He explained as he found himself busy with class work and assignments more often than not. All he could do was laugh as she told him he wouldn't get Myrtle on her. "Maybe I won't, maybe I will. That's for you to find out the next time you visit a bathroom." Daniel said with a smirk and a quick wink. He didn't even know Myrtle well but they could still make jokes like he did. Myrtle would probably just be glad people remembered her at this point.
As he agreed to dance Madison lead him out to the dance floor which had been prepared just for this. Daniel wasn't one to dance but he was no stranger to it either. Madison had already started to move to the beat of some song, he couldn't really place it. Daniel felt he heard it before but just couldn't tell where but either way the beat was there so he danced to it, even catching himself smiling and seemingly having fun without the need to be sarcastic about it. As Madison twirled around he just laughed a little able to tell she was getting into the dancing more than he was.
Madison stopped dancing for a little bit to go get some more of the punch and Daniel thought about getting some as well till he watched her grin toward him after she drank some more. As Madison leaned in and told him about the punch he just laughed. "You mean the punch in this school just isn't like that already?" Daniel said leaning closer as well but there wasn't much need to whisper since the music was louder than before and no one could probably hear them or was paying attention. "Here I thought I found another thing I liked about this school." He added before going to get another glass anyway despite what he had just learned or possibly more because of what he just found out. He hadn't known it was spiked before, Daniel just through it tasted funny. Downing another glass he returned now knowing why it tasted off. "When in Rome.. well when in Hogwarts I should say."

@roxanne & @adonia
Content with the amount of people that had shown up so far, Lily hopped into the Room of Requirement and went about her business of partying. She couldn’t sit out there forever waiting for the right person to come along. That might never happen! After all that talking, she was thirsty, so to the punch bowl it was. Weaving in and out of small groups along her way to the table, Lily grinned. This was going relatively well so far. The intensity of the first party wasn’t really here yet, but that was fine. She had anticipated that the Yule Ball was going to kill some of the novelty of a party off. While that was months ago at this point, everyone was used to this kind of thing now. The whole dancing your butt off, while insanely fun, did get old every now and again. The goal of this party was to dance out the second task of the tournament and kind of subtly celebrate Anna’s win. Lily was always looking for a reason, and this time it was because of her cousin. She didn’t see anything wrong with that.
Reaching the punch bowl without being stopped by anyone, Lily scooped up a cup of it, downing it instantly. The instant it hit her throat, it felt like she had been punched in the face. This stuff was strong! But that was why it was called punch, right? One cup didn’t quench her thirst though, so a second one went in, and she did the same thing again. Perfect. Now to socialize like the little butterfly she was. Spotting Roxy standing with the new girl, the one that danced like a giraffe, Lily skipped over. “Hey!” She yelled right as the music changed to a new song. Whatever they were talking about didn’t matter. She was here now, so conversing with her it was. “Having fun Roxy and person I don’t know?”

It wasn't much later on that Zita decided it was time for her to stop hugging the wall. She'd been watching from the outskirts and had seen Sav put alcohol in the bowl of punch and had pondered if she wanted to take a drink. She didn't make a habit out of getting drunk; she really only drank a little during quidditch win celebrations and even then a little was maybe a sip or two. She was at a party though and it had been a while since she'd had anything to drink. Her sole purpose was to come out tonight and party so why not add a bit of alcohol to the mix. Her quota alcohol quota hadn't been touched for the year anyway. She could handle it. She walked over to the punch just as Lily was leaving and grabbed her a cup of the stuff. Just a sip of it and she tasted the familiar sting of firewhiskey on her tongue. She snickered, typical drink to add into the punch bowl. The song that was playing around the room transitioned into another and she knew it was the perfect time to get out on the dance floor. Downing the rest of what was in her cup, she felt the rush in her blood from the alcohol and smirked before making her way to the middle of the dance floor. Lily and Roxy were talking to the Cut-a-Rug girl she had been eyeing since she'd entered. "It's a party ladies. You're in the middle of the dancefloor. Less talk, more dance," the alcohol seemed to be hitting her already and she couldn't remember if she'd eaten before this. She laughed and moved to the music anyway.

Madison smirked at his words and said "fair enough". The music was loud and she definitely did not want to continue talking if it means that she has to up her voice a few octaves for him to hear what she was saying. "Yup we all are", and it his next words, she smacked him on the arm and said "ohnonono... you soo are not going to do such a thing Daniel. Nope, not me"she said with a smirk. As she dragged him to dance, Madi wondered if he was going ot be okay or not, but her thoughts were put to rest when she found him dancing along, enjoying the beat and smiling too might she add. Wait, he was smiling, wow !! Yay to Madison she thought inwardly. As he leaned to talk, Madi found herself grinning at his words. Looking up at him, she then spoke up "no silly, no firewhiskey allowed in school"and that was when she realised that she was rather short when comapred to him. Standing at 5'5" she was very much what you call is the average height for a witch. "So, what are the other things?"she asked as she took another glass. "'time to get drunk'she thought inwardly with a giggle. Looking at Daniel she said "cheers" as she took a sip of her drink. While she was sure that it was not that strong, she knew that after having a few more glasses she would be a drunk girl. @crimson1

Daniel just smirked as she slapped his arm as he threatened to get Myrtle to haunt her as if he had that power somehow. "I don't know, if you keep beating me like that I might just be tempted to." Daniel replied with a laugh while the same smirk remained. "What? don't feel like hearing her life story every time you go into a bathroom?" He added with a laugh before being dragged out to the dance floor to dance. Still he was enjoying himself and that's part of the reason he came to the party after all.
"I don't think I'm the one you need to be telling that too, it's however spiked the punch. Granted I had been standing around the bowl when you walked up but no it wasn't me." Daniel teased her slightly as if he spiked the bowl, it sounded like something he might have done back home or when in a good more but he didn't have any alcohol on him to do such a thing. Someone else had and he didn't notice or mind who did it. Madison asked what some of the other things that he liked about the school were and Daniel just laughed. "Hey, I'm not giving up all my secrets that quickly. You got me to smile and dance today, I think you've learned enough for right now." Daniel explained with a laugh as Madison went for another glass of the punch while saying cheers. "Well I can't let you get ahead of me I suppose." Daniel replied with a smirk taking another glass and repeating after Madison, "cheers."
