Madison raised a brow at his comment and said "you won't get hurt by my smacking" and with a giggle she added s"top being such a baby"she said her voice filled with fun. She was enjoying it a lot. As he mentioned hearing her life story, she shook her head and said nope, not interested, pass"she said trying very hard to remove the image he planted in her brain. Myrtle talking in that gloomy voice of hers' while madi would be sitting on the counter and trying hard not to fal lasleep. It would be like history lesson all over again. "Ahh well whoever spiked it is an absolute sweetheart"she said with a smile, and then she added to Daniel "while it is not allowed, it doesn't stop people from spiking these"as she pointed to the bowls. As he mentioned that he was near the puch bowl and at his words, she looked at him suspiciously and said you did not did you?"But then again that seemed to be a little too unreal, seeing as he didn't realise that it was spiked. At his laugh and words, she joined him and said "well, i has to try a little."And it admission that she got him to dance and smile, Madi had on a smug smile as she said "now now, don't give me all the credit"and smirked right back at him. When he joined her for another drink, she shook her head in amusement and said "you are soo not competing with me on this. i am not good when it comes to holding my drink"and shrugged a little but enjoyed the faint taste of the firewhiskey all the same. @crimson1

"I don't know, maybe you just hit really hard and don't know it." Daniel said teasing her while she claimed he would be fine, which he would. "Baby now? I believe you're the one whose shorter than me here, if anything I should be calling you baby." Continuing to tease her back while she called him a baby for bring up her smacking his arm. He could only laugh and look back at her as she refused repeatedly about Myrtle. "Oh she'll feel sad to hear that you don't want to hear it, hauntingly sad if you know what I mean when I tell her." He winked once more with a smirk as they kept joking about Myrtle, this was probably more than anyone talked about her normally.
Daniel just smiled while she spoke of whoever did spike the bowl and that while it wasn't allowed it still happened and he pretended to gasp for a second. "Are you telling me rules are being broken? Oh dear, I don't know if I stand for that, we all know how much I care about following all the rules." Daniel said with a smirk just before drinking some more of the spike punch from his glass. As Daniel mentioned that he was around the punch bowls that were spiked she asked if it was him like he had hinted. "No, it sounds like something I'd have done but I don't have any fire whisky on me." Daniel said with a shrug as it was always a possibility with him but he didn't just go around carrying alcohol. He just laughed as she mentioned them competing about drinking, honestly he hadn't drank very much alcohol in his life but if he had to guess he probably could handle it better than Madison but that was just a guess from what she was saying. "Great so that means I'll be carrying you back to the common room later tonight?" He teased her while they both drank from their glasses of spiked punch. "Still I have always wanted an excuse to see what the girls dorm looks like."

Ooh! Adonia liked this Roxy. She watched, still swaying a little to the music, as Rox took a sip. Adonia didn't break eye contact either. She'd never be the first to do that. Her smile only grew as Roxy tipped the cup toward her. "Well, I could use a little magic. I'll try it your way," she teased, stepping forward a little and placing her lips under the cup. She wouldn't take the initiative on sipping, but instead would wait for Roxy to tip the cup for her. Adonia still, this whole time, didn't break eye contact. Once she straightened up she took another step forward. She was about to lift a hand to place on Roxys hand to dance when some new faces showed up! First, the redhead. Adonia spoke up too as the song changed, "yes! I'm Doni," she introduced. Then the girl with the dark hair, who had a very good point. "Agreed!" she finally made that reach across to take Roxys hand and started to dance, immediately lifting Roxys hand so she could spin under it. She laughed as Zita danced too. She was only holding Roxys hand for a moment, though, because she wanted to dance more wildly and it was hard to while holding on! She went on to keep dancing like a variety of wild animals. "Who are you guys!?" she shouted, nodding at Lily and Zita. lily luna potter@zita @roxanne

Jamie had to bite back a laugh when Liona came over after the song was finished, declaring dancing simple. It was funny, but when Liona wasn’t dancing, she seemed to shrink. It was like the music made her look different, and that puzzled Jamie… but in a good way. The Hufflepuff smiled at the Slytherin as the other girl laughed. And apparently her staring hadn’t gone unnoticed, which made Jamie blush a little more. She hadn’t meant for it to be strange, for her to be watching Liona, but in hindsight, there wasn’t really a way to make staring at someone not strange, whether you wanted to be romantically involved with them or not. Liona asked again if Jamie wanted to join, and the Hufflepuff hesitated, both yes and no dancing on her tongue. She wanted to dance with Liona, but she also didn’t want to look like a fool… After a moment, Jamie realized how ridiculous her conundrum was. Looking weird was nothing compared to getting to spend time with Liona where neither of them were on guard, waiting for something bad to happen or for them to make a verbal faux pas. “You’ve convinced me.” Jamie finally said with a smile (not that it had actually taken much convincing). “I’ll dance with you.”

Riley nodded in response to her having mentioned Jamie and Lily. Between the coverage of the Triwizard Tournament and the coverage that the Potters received without end, people—especially at Hogwarts—knew who they were, at least by name. Max didn't expect him to carry on the conversation about her paternal half-siblings, nor did he carry it on.
“Well, not that I'm not enjoying your company, but you know you can leave if you want,” he went on to remind her. She knew that she could leave whenever she wanted, and she guessed that she would leave before most of the other people there, but she didn't have the urge to bolt out the door, either. “I don't think anyone would hold it against you if you were uncomfortable,” Riley then added in assurance.
“I'm alright,” Max replied with a slight shrug. It was just strange to be around any of it—the drinking and the flirtation all piled together, especially. She hadn't caught sight of any couples with their lips locked as though one of them might as well have been trying to resuscitate the other, but she didn't think that it would take long for it to happen.
As for Riley, he shared that this occasion was his first time actually drinking alcohol. (In his words, “I've had a few sips before, but nothing substantial.”) Max, who could hardly believe what she had just heard, was close to asking him by what criteria he defined a “sip” of a drink. “Maybe another kind of alcohol is more your taste…” he suggested to her, providing wine or champagne as examples. “I hear those are nice.”
“Maybe,” Max agreed. Maybe it had been nothing more than that there was something ridiculously unpleasant about expecting a drink that hadn't seemed to be much more than fruit juice, only to wind up with the burning taste of what was apparently firewhisky mixed in with it. “This—This is really your first time?” she questioned Riley. “Drinking, I mean.” He acted so accustomed to it. There was, of course, butterbeer, but the alcohol content in that was negligible… and who hadn't had butterbeer?

Max insisted that she was alright with staying and he nodded, not wanting it to seem like he was pushing her away or anything. The music continued loudly and played mostly songs that he had heard a few times but didn't know well. He assumed they were the popular songs right now, things that kids who spent time doing things other than learning how to read people would know. He loved observing the happenings, the couples dancing, one man who looked like he was maybe jealous of someone even though he was standing rather close to a girl Riley assumed was his date. How very scandalous, Riley did love drama, he just appreciated it more from a distance when he could watch it unfold in other peoples lives rather than his own. Riley also noticed a crowd forming around a girl he didn't recognize as well on the dance floor, perhaps a Durmstrang or Beauxbatons student. Max asked him if it was really his first time drinking and he nodded, but then decided to let her in on his little truth. "Well, I found a bottle in my dad's desk drawer last summer and tried a sip of it, you know, thinking I was rebellious and cool and it was disgusting." he admitted. "It tastes a lot better mixed." he added.

Explaining that he had found a bottle—presumably of firewhisky, Max guessed—in his father's desk drawer over the summer, Riley told her that he had tried a sip of it then to be “rebellious and cool” but had found it “disgusting”. “It tastes better mixed,” he promised her nonetheless.
Wanting to take his word for it, Max laughed. She didn't think that she would have gone and done the same thing, though, but at least Riley was able to acknowledge after the fact that stealing his dad's alcohol might have been an ill-advised choice. “It didn't help that I was expecting fruit,” she considered with a little shudder. “Whatever it was supposed to be shouldn't burn like that.” If she had gone into it with the expectation of drinking alcohol, maybe it would have been different.
“My mum and stepdad drink occasionally,” she said, “but I've got two younger half-siblings,” so drinking heavily around them wouldn't be setting a very good example. Max didn't want to mention that they had probably locked up the alcohol even more than before in case she saw it as an alternative to poisoning herself again.

"Me.. hitting hard? Huh that's a new thing" she said with a shrug and then added teasingly "me hitting on a guy is quite okay, but actually hitting?!? Nah" and gave a grin. Wait a second did she actually admit that?! Mm yes she very much did and now she does not know how he will take that straightforward reply of hers. Well no time to worry she thought, at least tonight. When he teased her about her being a baby she rolled her eyes and said "hahaha very well noticed that I'm short Mr. McKay, ten points to gryffindor" and then with a teasing grin she added "but do I sense that you want to call me a baby?!" as she wiggled her brows. She laughed at his reply to her words and said "let's not talk about her here" and winked right back at him. Madison outright laughed at his words about him being a bit dramatic about rules being broken. "Oh goodness I didn't know that you were such a rule abuser Daniel... Should I be worried?!?" she asked the last part with a bit of saracsm in her voice. She liked this funny bantering with this guy, it was so nice to just talk along and say what she wants without much thought to it, well a little thought. At his admission that he would've have it off he had the whiskey with him she giggled and said "well .. had you been walking with whiskey on you, I should have been a little worried about you". But then again when it is a party like this, people intentionally bring the whiskey just to make it a whole lot fun. She saw from the corner of her eye that Riley was there with a girl she didn't know, and so was Jamie with a few others. Looks like everyone is having soo much fun, including herself. At his teasing about carrying her, she just smirked and said "there's that again, that's the second time you mentioned it" as she remembered the first time when they were in the common room and she has been suffering from a sore ankle. she added teasingly [ " eager to carry me?!" and then with a shrug and a little seriousness she said "I'll be drunk for sure, how much if you ask? I don't know". As he said that he wanted to see what their firm looks like she gave a laugh and said "my my.. you are very interested to know everything, aren't you?" The music was still there, but now that she was closer to him, she didn't have to shout out her words for him to hear. But then again she was sure that her voice is a little high than usual. @crimson1

Riley had noticed when he poured his own glass that it looked like only one punch bowl was afflicted. He could tell because of the mild separation between the two liquids, he could recall. "I think one of those bowls is safe actually, I think only one of them has fire whisky in it." likely, whoever did it only brought enough for one bowl, that, or was feeling generous enough to give people the option of a virgin drink if they didn't want alcohol. "you could probably find something safe to drink." he suggested.
She went on to say that her parents drank sometimes but not a lot since she had two younger siblings and he nodded, he understood that. "My family normally only has wine with dinner." he told her. "And just one glass, if that. I think the bottle was reserved for when he has important guests over." he admitted. Unless his dad was hiding the fact that he was an alcoholic, but if so he was doing a really great job at hiding it.

Hearing from Riley that one of the punch bowls hadn't been tainted with alcohol after she had already made such a fuss over having to drink the punch that had had alcohol poured into it was unfortunate. (He had really chosen to reveal that to her after she had resigned herself to the fact that she wouldn't be having punch again for the foreseeable future?) “You could probably find something safe to drink,” he informed her, but Max wondered why she would take that chance now.
“Maybe later?” Max thought that it sounded slightly more pleasant than what she had really wanted to say in response, which would have been a flat-out “NO”. That way, too, if she did change her mind later on, she wouldn't have to explain herself.
Riley told her that what his own family drank was mostly just wine with dinner. “And just one glass, if that,” he clarified, stating that he thought that the bottle of his father's from which he had sipped must have been reserved for when they had guests over.
Max couldn't say that she doubted that Riley's suspicions were correct. He was from a well-known pure-blood family, so of course they must have entertained people regularly. “Did your dad ever find out that you drank from it?” she wondered. From the way Riley had been talking, she guessed that he hadn't; he hadn't brought up having been punished for it, at least.

He sensed her reluctance to get a new drink and he didn't blame her at all. He could imagine that her first interaction with the punch had left a (pun intended) bad taste in her mouth and she wasn't quite ready to try it again, even with the promise of untainted juice. She was polite and responded that she might be interested later, however, he could see on her face that she wasn't interested at all. 'Did your dad ever find out that you drank from it?' she asked. He shook his head after taking another drink from his nearly empty cup. "No, and I don't think I'd ever live it down if he did. Not that he'd be opposed to us drinking, we had wine every night. But I'm pretty sure that bottle was worth money than I've ever had." he explained with a smirk.

Riley took another sip from his cup—his punch nearly finished now—before answering her. Unless he intended to make himself seem especially rebellious by recounting some wild story about how his father had caught him in the act, followed by some narrow escape out a window or something like that, he seemed too casual to suggest that he had ever gotten into serious trouble for what he'd done. (Then again, it wasn't as though his parents couldn't afford to buy another bottle to replace it, if his sip from it was such an issue.)
But no, he told her, he hadn't gotten in trouble for it, though, from the way he spoke, he didn't sound eager to find out what the punishment could have been. It wasn't the drinking that was the problem, he explained; it was that the bottle was worth more money than he had supposedly ever had.
That was… surprising, Max thought; weren't people who were that wealthy always shoving money at their children as though it actually could grow on trees? She didn't question it openly, but she guessed that his father probably could have replaced it. “…How much does something like that cost, anyway?” she mused. It was probably the sort of thing that got poured from the bottle and served from one of those glass decanters, too.

"Maybe you're just branching out from hitting on guys to giving them bruises." Daniel replied with a laugh as she outright said she hit on guys, which there wasn't anything wrong with but it was funny to see her talk to freely, either it was the party or that's just how she was either way he was fine with it. "Why do I get the feeling that those points aren't legitimate," Daniel replied just kidding as he knew they weren't then laughed as she joked about him calling her a baby. Yes he was aware what she was saying but it wasn't going to faze him there was a difference between calling her baby and a baby. "You've caught me, you're a baby." Daniel said teasing her slightly playing with her words for a second. As she spoke of Myrtle he just laughed and nodded while he let it go.
"I don't know, do you have a reason to be worried. I don't have much planned right now so you should be safe. I say should be because you never know," he finished with a smirk and a small wink as he was just kidding but once again he was fine with leaving that idea up in the air for now. He just laughed a little as Madison said she would be worried if he was just walking around with whiskey on him all the time. "I'm not there yet, don't need to show up to classes drunk." Daniel joked about if he did carry alcohol around all the time.
"I only mention it a second time because the first time your ankle was hurt and this time your going to end up drunk." Daniel said with a laugh as he explained his offer twice so far while she joked about it. "Maybe you should stop finding yourself in compromising situations when I'm around, any lesser man might take advantage of the situation. Me I'll just use it to sneak a peek at the girls dorm, maybe." Daniel explained as he knew her situations had nothing to do with him but he could still make the joke. "It's one of the places I was told I wasn't allowed to go, that in it's self makes me want to see what's going on in there. I can't be told not to do something or go somewhere and not wondering about it at least." He explained while she teased him about wanting to see the girls dorm, the music still going strong while they stood near the dance floor.

Riley's parents did have money, yes, but that didn't mean that he had access to that money. His parents had bought him things growing up, and when he went off to Hogwarts he started getting monthly cards that said "we miss you, here have some money to prove that we still love you." of course, written more gracefully than that my his mother who had a lot of times on her hand with all of her kids gone from the house. That money was the first time he began to experience how much things actually costed and what the value of money was. He never wanted for anything and he knew if he needed money his parents would send him more, but he never asked. he also knew he had a trust fund waiting for him, but he couldn't gain access to it until his graduation day, and he was fairly sure even then the money wouldn't stop coming, his trust was just to get him started. "A couple hundred galleons, maybe." he shrugged, finishing his cup.

If she had still had her punch and taken a sip of it, Maxima was sure that she would have spit it out upon hearing the cost of Riley's father's bottle of alcohol. “Galleons?” Max repeated, blinking. Spending that much money on something that was actually valuable—books, art, furniture, jewelry—made sense, but who in their right mind would willingly spend that much on alcohol? “Merlin's beard,” she said under her breath. No wonder he reserved it for his guests! “He does know that they sell it at the Three Broomsticks for a few Sickles, doesn't he?” she tried to joke, attempting to justify the exorbitant cost.
However many children of aristocratic families walked the corridors of Hogwarts with her, it was still strange to hear anyone talking about that much money as though it were nothing but a few Knuts. Her mother and stepfather weren't poor—except perhaps in relation to people like the Fudge family—and could afford what they needed to, but spending lavishly like that was out of the question.
