Lulu was a mess. If it weren’t for Uncle Jimbos Birthday, she wouldn’t have stepped foot into the stupid Valentines Day Festival, but she wanted to show her uncle support since he was her favorite member of the family and always gave the best advice. Also she asked Peggy if she wanted to come to the fest for a Galentines Day sleepover afterwards, anything to distract her from stupid Singles Awareness Day.
Well, as soon as she stepped into the fest, Lulu got a glimpse of something her heart wasn’t ready to see. And she didn’t have any idea until it happened.
As she flounced her way she noticed many tables lined up and people speed dating. At first that was cute. Fun, even. But then her eyes fell on Arlo who was perched on a chair and having a laugh with a blonde girl. Her heart sank to her ass as a massive clump settled in her throat. Bloody Hell, she didnt have a clue why she was feeling such intense emotions when she was the idiot who ultimately did the heartbreaking.
The blonde quickly ducked and shuffled the opposite way in fear of him seeing her as mascara started to run down her pale cheeks. She was in a dilemma because she was supposed to meet Peggy where the speed dating palooza was happening. Lulus eyes darted around until she finally saw Peggy, standing around with the typical vacant expression. Hell, sometimes this girl made Lulu appear to be normal. ”Pssst. Peggy..” she flailed her hands wildly above a whisper. ”Peggy” she moaned a little louder, hoping she’d see her so she wouldn’t have to speed walk past Arlo.
”Oh, Merlins saggy left- ”

Peggy was simply standing still in the middle of the street in Hogsmeade staring at the absolute brilliance as it played out around her. Charmed origami, face painting stalls - not to mention all of the SNACKS! Six years of participating in the magical community and Peggy was still filled with so much wonderment! She had been completely zoned out for some time now, just motionlessly taking it all in as people dodged to move around her. Her expression blank. Her body limp like a lifeless mannequin dressed from head to toe entirely in clashing pink and red with a repeating love heart pattern on her sweater and the words ‘Je T'aime’ in a gaudy glitter bubble print font, and a crown made from ridiculously oversized pom poms fashioned on her head. She always had that about her, that look of otherness, of eyes that see things much too far, and of thoughts that wander off the edge of this world. With all the auditory and visual stimulation sending Peggy into a daze, she had basically forgotten that she had come to meet her friend, and she certainly didn’t notice her trying to get Peggy’s attention! lulu anne blishwick

Lulus brows crumpled at the center of her forehead, watching Peggy with growing frustration. What in Merlins name was she looking at? Arlo was focused on his blind date but she remained crouched near the table not wishing to be detected.
Her eyes scanned the area for something to throw at Peggy, since she was only mediocre with spellwork. She spotted a fancy porcelain vase filled with fresh red roses on the middle of one of the empty speed dating tables. Lulu gripped a bud and ripped it off the stem savagely, flower petals littered the floor.. She didn't care to pick them up since a trail of roses for Valentines Day was festive at this point. She put her former quidditch skills to use, chucking one straight at Peggys pom pom crowned head, leaving a trail of petals in the air.
"OI!" she cupped her hands around her mouth, forcing her voice to be more masculine. "Peggy.." she whined, a little louder with a dramatized wave, ripping another beautiful rose off the stem and throwing it on the ground. At this point it just felt kind of good to do. Sorry Uncle Jimbo.

Bloody brilliant. Peggy could stand here all day just staring blankly at the magical scene before her, and she probably would have if she hadn’t suddenly been pulled out of her stupor by a whack to the head. Now, this wasn’t the first time the teen had copped a flying object or two, or been the target of a prank - Peggy had a way about her that sometimes made her peers wanna make her the butt of a joke, but more often than not she was pretty oblivious to any intent of wrongful doings so it was easily shrugged off. “Owch…” she murmured, slowly reaching up and plucking a single red rose petal from her hair before inspecting it carefully. Very curious. Perhaps she had a secret admirer for Valentine’s Day? Then she heard a hushed but frantic voice calling her name for the third or fourth time but it was the last one finally caught her attention. She looked over in the direction of where it had come from and eventually spotted Lulu crouched down behind a table. “Alright, Loo?!” Peggy exclaimed loudly, making her way over to the blonde with enthusiasm, garnering a couple of side glances from people in her immediate vicinity as she hollered. “Whatcha doin’ down there?” She towered over the blonde, looking down at her curiously. That big goofy smile and sharp Liverpool accent sure made for quite the grand greeting, and probably a little more conspicuous than Lulu would have liked it at this moment! lulu anne blishwick

As Peggy exclaimed a greeting to Lulu, she froze in horror, unsure what to do. The blonde fell to her knees on the floor not caring who saw her as long as it wasn't her ex-boyfriend, Arlo. She army crawled away from the area before popping up near some heart shaped hedges. Lulu knew she was being a drama queen but she would die of embarrassment if Arlo happened to see her, on Valentines Day, looking like a desperate fool. "Oh, Merlins beard, Peggy!" she grumbled. "No. I'm not okay." she whined out of annoyance. Her eye brows threaded at the center of her forehead, "He's gonna hear ya, stop flappin' your lips and c'mon!" she whispered loudly, yanking her friends arm to guide her as far away from the speed dating section as possible. Lulu was so focused on Arlo she hadn't even noticed his date was Addilyn Slater - that would have been a whole other world of upset - and the cherry on top to the golden shit sundae.
Lulu didn't make it long before her mascara was trailing down her cheeks, which would probably be very confusing for Peggy, considering she hadn't explained anything yet. The blonde didn't know how to act, overwhelmed with emotion. A part of her wanted to flip a table while the other wanted to hide under a rock and eat a carton of chocolate ice cream in the dark. "I fucking hate Valentines day." she sobbed uncontrollably into Peggys ugly, gaudy, sweater in the middle of the stupid Valentines day fest.

As she approached, she watched curiously as Lulu exerted nervous energy scrambling around; the hushed whispering, the army crawling, the demand for Peggy to stop flapping her gums. Peggy just observed her, and although she was vaguely puzzled by Lulu’s behaviour, her appearance remained relatively deadpan. "No. I'm not okay."“Oh…” Peggy’s expression shifted a little now, her head tilting slightly to the side. She paused and looked thoughtful for a moment. “Who’s gonna hear me..?” Peggy enquired, shoving her hand in her trouser pocket just to have it yanked back out again as the blonde witch started to physically drag her away from their intended meeting point. It was properly evident now that there was something wrong with Lulu. She had ruined her eye makeup with tears that were streaming down her face and then declared her hate for Valentine’s Day by using a curse word for emphasis. That did make Peggy’s eyes pop, a little startled, and then next thing Lulu was burrowed into her sweater sobbing uncontrollably. The Hufflepuff’s arms moved instinctively to wrap around her friend in a stiff hug, her hand patting her on the back rather robotically. “Oh dear. I’m very sorry to hear that, Loo. Would you like to talk about it?” Peggy probably wasn’t the most qualified person in the world to be effectively discussing things like breakups, and she certainly didn’t have any qualms with the novelty aspects of Valentine's Day themes, but she was someone who was decidedly loyal to the point where she would pretend to hate the whole festival vibe too if she thought it would make her friend feel better. lulu anne blishwick

Sometimes Peggy was on another planet but Lulu knew the younger girl meant well. She didn't have a malicious bone in her body, she was just a little spacey. Which said a lot for someone like Lulu to think about someone. She was someone who was typically considered 'weird' but Peggy made Lulu almost seem normal. Lulu genuinely liked Peggy because she was quite funny and entertaining. Lulu had a feeling like Peggy could lift her spirits when she was feeling particularly down today.
When they finally got to a more comfortable area away from her ex-boyfriend, she sighed. "Arlo." she answered between her teeth. It was meant to be more of a whisper, but it was more of grunt, because she felt herself starting to ugly cry again. She pulled away from the awkwardly robot hug, sucking air in through her front teeth, chest quivering with sobs. "We broke up. Or-I actually broke up with him. It was kind of messed up. I probably shouldn't have done that, but whatever, I guess I'm a bloody idiot." she tried to explain in a more even tone but she ended up whining anyways.
Lulu took a deep breath in, deciding that she was only allowing herself a one minute breakdown at Valentine's Day Fest. The blonde straightened her shoulders, mascara smudged eyes scanning the fest. "Okay, thank you for letting me vent. I'm done being a downer.." Lulu promised, wiping the tears from her eyes but they continued to stream. "How are you Peggy? Do you want to drink or something?" she asked, wanting something to distract her more than anything.

“Oh…” Lulu confessed to Peggy that her and Arlo weren’t boyfriend and girlfriend anymore, and Peggy’s eyes darted back over to the speed dating to see if she could catch a glimpse of him to gauge if he was crying as much as her friend, but she couldn’t see him from their new further away position. But she assumed he probably would be since it was Lulu who had done the dumping and look at how sad she was! He was probably rolling around bawling if her reaction was any indication! “You’re not an idiot, Loo. You’re much too cool for him anyway I always thought.” That seemed like an appropriate thing to say to a friend who was going through a breakup, even though Peggy’s idea of cool probably wasn’t the mainstream one, and she didn’t really know Arlo that well anyways. Peggy shoved her hand into her pocket and pulled out a hanky embroidered with flowers and bees - the kind a grandma would carry around with them - and offered it to her for those smudgy eyes. Peggy placed a hand on her friend’s shoulder out from an arm's width and gave her a smile. “It’s okay, you can vent as much as you like” She removed her hand from the blonde to use air quotes for the word ‘vent’ for some reason. Lulu asked her if she wanted to drink and the young witch always wanted to fill her belly with delicious foods and beverages so that was a no-brainer. “That sounds brilliant! Did you want to get some pumpkin juice?”lulu anne blishwick

"Thanks Peggy, that's nice to say...but he's way cooler. And hotter. And richer. Fuck my life." Lulu stated slowly in realization, tears threatening to roll down her cheeks again. The blonde sniffled, straightening up her hair and wiping the corners of her eyeliner to make herself look presentable. She couldn't keep losing her marbles like this.
Peggy asked if Lulu wanted pumpkin juice and she shook her head from side to side. "No, not pumpkin juice. I was thinking of something more...fun." her smile spread like a Cheshire cat as she looked at Peggy. "Not just giggly water." she stated as her gears turned in her head. Alcohol! Alcohol would make her feel better, or it would get her mind off of everything. Also, she had a sneaking suspicion that Peggy would be a hilarious drunk so she'd happily add fuel to that fire to see what happened...
"Come with meeee" she sang, pulling a devilish grin as she stepped over to the alcohol vendor carts to snatch a half full bottle before scurrying away. The people working were too busy to notice Lulu shove the bottle into her bag. She swiftly followed by grabbing a pumpkin juice for Peggy, holding it out to her. "Pumpkin juice for you." Lulu unscrewed the alcohol cap and allowed an ungodly amount of rum slosh into the drink, more than likely completely ruining it. "Try it. What do you think?" she asked expectantly, taking a swig of the alcohol straight from the bottle and shoving it back into her bag again.

Peggy watched worriedly as Lulu’s expression threatened another round of tears. It sucked to see her friend upset like this, over a boy. Peggy really couldn’t grasp the concept of heartbreak, she’d never been in love or really even known the longing of having a solid unrequited crush on someone else so it was all a bit unnecessary, really. Lulu suggested something more fun than pumpkin juice and it took a moment for the young Hufflepuff to catch on to what she was most likely referring to. The girl could think of few beverages that she would consider more fun than pumpkin juice, but she sure bet Lulu could think of a tonne, and that they probably also involved alcohol. Now Peggy was too young to legally drink, and she really had no desire to do it anyway, but there was a certain type of pressure she felt to participate if it was going to cheer her friend up. Since it seemed like that was something that’d turn her day around, Peggy figured that perhaps she ought to just go with the flow, both metaphorically and literally since she was once again being dragged around by the blonde. She was presented with a pumpkin juice which was generously topped up with brown liquor. Peggy hesitated for a moment looking to the older girl for encouragement, and Lulu egged her on. Peggy sniffed the contents of the cup first, screwing up her nose at the strong whiff of rum up her nostrils. She didn’t really wanna try it, but she was doing this in solidarity. She brought the cup up to her lips and sipped it - the overbearing taste was trapped in her mouth and she couldn’t swallow it at first. Peggy covered her mouth with her free hand and gagged dramatically behind tightly closed lips then eventually forced it down. She caught a breath and started waving her hand in front of her face as if it were on fire trying to fan it. “That’s bloody disgusting!” she exclaimed. “Do you really like this, Loo??” lulu anne blishwick

Lulu watched with a growing curiosity as Peggy choked down a bit of the alcoholic concoction. But when Peggy suddenly waved her hands in front of her face, she realized her friend probably wasn't expecting the heat from the firewhisky. Even after watching Lulu add it with her own eyes. "Oh-Oh fuck." Lulus eyes widened with confusion, waving her hands in front of Peggys face in hopes that she wouldn't spew. The last thing they needed to do was draw more attention on themselves. Lulu smeared the remaining mascara under her eyes, sighing when she noticed her make up all over her hands. She prayed Arlo wouldn't see her looking like a complete loser.
"Do you not like it?" she asked, a bit perturbed. "All teenagers love drinking. Especially when it's underage." Lulu insisted, knowing she was a few years younger than her. Maybe she shouldn't have been giving her alcohol but what was the worst that could happen.... Lulu reached for the bottle and took an ungodly amount of chugs of the liquid that burned her throat. Why did she like the feeling suddenly? Warmth spread amongst her insides, turning her cheeks red and making her legs heavy. "C'mon Peggy! Drink more!" she peer pressured aggressively, cocking her head to the side. "Have you never drank before?" she asked, a mischievous Cheshire smile crossing her features.

Peggy stood stunned by the taste she had just experienced. Her nose scrunched up in disgust, and her tongue hung out of her mouth trying to catch some fresh cool air to alleviate the burning sensation. “Ugh…” was all she managed as she looked to Lulu for guidance - the fact that she may be drawing attention to them with her reaction hadn’t crossed her mind, it wasn’t as if she didn’t catch the curious glances from passerbys on the average day anyway, what with the way she carried herself and her odd sense of fashion. Lulu egged her on, assuring Peggy that teenagers usually loved to drink. Peggy wasn’t one to normally conform to social pressures, but Lulu was someone that the young Hufflepuff trusted, and so her arm was being well and truly twisted at this stage. “Alright…” she agreed hesitantly, then took another sip. She winced, but not quite as aggressively as the first time. Maybe this was an acquired taste? And Peggy was used to sweets - lots of sweets - so she could probably get used to this if she tried it enough. “No… I’ve never drank alcohol before. 'Ma said if you drink before your legal age that it can cause life threatening illnesses, or that you will get arrested and go to muggle jail…” She shrugged in an attempt to shake that the thought of becoming a bonafide criminal out of her head. Looking down at the cup, she examined it with her eyes squinted as if she were looking through a microscope, then she gave it a sniff. “Smells like my dad…” she observed off-handedly. She supposed if doing this with Lulu could cheer her up, then Peggy would resolve to oblige. lulu anne blishwick

Cocking her head to the side, Lulu watched as Peggy’s gears slowly turned. A devilish grin slowly tugged at the corners of her lips as Peggy contemplated joining the dark side. As much as Lulu claimed she’d never push her friends into doing something they didn’t want to do, she got a thrill out of being a bad influence at times. Peggy just needed a bit of encouragement. Lulu watched with Peggy with interest as she took another sip of the alcohol, offering her an encouraging nod. Peggy winced but less dramatic slightly this time. ”Peer Pressuuure” she sang in a country twang, erupting with a drunken giggle. Peggy shared some information that further led her to believe that Peggy came from a family of kooky Muggles. The blonde shrugged nonchalantly, warmth creeping up her body already. “Your mum isn’t here, nor is there a muggle jail around, so I think we’re in the clear.” she assured her gal pal, reaching for the bottle with grabby hands and taking a chug she’d surely regret later. ”Its so fun, you’ll love it, trust me..”Peggy Duncan
