"Alright," Dmitri's companion had said as she began to move forward. Dmitri followed her. He turned back at the sound of the bricks moving again, and just as he had suspected, the pristine archway was returning to a solid wall once more. "nice trick" he thought to himself as he turned back to Tammy. He took a look around, now that they were inside Diagon Alley. There were many different shops, and like the woman had just said, it was obviously built to service any magical need, from jokes and pranks, to cauldrons.
She gestured down the alley way to the end, where a pristine marble building stood. She had called it Gringotts. He had heard of it. It was supposedly the safest bank in the world. But there had been a series of breaking, that he was sure they would rather people forgot. Dmitri had thought about putting money in it, but - being the person that he was - Dmitri had trust issues. He hadn't decided yet to trust anyone else with his money.
Luckily the streets weren't extremely crowded. Being back here, Dmitri had remembered the first time he was here, it had been. Perhaps that was one reason he hadn't been back, and why he hadn't taken time to truly explore it. He wasn't one to enjoy big crowds. "It's not quite how I remember it from my first time" he had remarked. "What is your favorite shop?"

"It's not quite how I remember it from my first time," said Dmitri of Diagon Alley. "What is your favorite shop?"
That was a good question. Tamatha never felt as though she had much time to go shopping anymore, unless it was for something that she actually needed. At the risk of sounding like a completely stereotypical woman, however, she laughed. "Madam Malkin's is nice," she said, "if you need robes for… well, just about anything. That's here on the North Side, not too far from us." She motioned to their left, where a sign marking the shop hung. Her mother was a model, so fashion had always been something that was a part of her life.
"There's also Florean Fortescue's," Tamatha continued. "That's the ice cream parlor, if you like ice cream. They have the usual flavors, but some of them sound a little bit… bizarre to me." Sure, her half-Veela metabolism could take on ice cream without an issue, but a few of the combinations that she'd seen them come up with over there struck her as revolting.

"Madam Malkin's is nice," the woman had stated. Typical. But it was good information to have. As he processed this information, Tammy had mentioned an ice cream parlor. Dmitri looked to where she was looking, and couldn't hide his eyes lighting up. Dmitri had a sweet tooth for sure. He was always interested in places that contained anything sugary. "They have the usual flavors, but some of them sound a little bit… bizarre to me." "What do you mean by bizarre?" Dmitri's interest was defiantly peaked, as he looked at the interesting building. He had oped that she hadn't noticed.
Trying not to seem too much like the child who was told that he couldn't have any, so he looked around to spot the other shops around. He did notice Florish and Blotts near the end of the row on the right. and what looked like a pet shop. Perhaps he could get some seed there later.

"What do you mean by bizarre?"
"Their ice cream is good. Don't get me wrong," Tamatha explained with a slight laugh, "but I don't know who comes up with some of the flavors they serve." They were… creative flavors, though; she would grant them that. Whoever worked there and came up with their menu wasn't afraid of taking a culinary risk… or ten.
"Stuff like orange marmalade, strawberry and peanut butter, chocolate chili… And those are the 'normal' flavors," Tamatha continued. "Sometimes I think they make batches just for the shock value." It wouldn't have surprised her if that was what it was, but the place did seem to do good business—at least in the summertime. "Though, I've had their apple crumble flavor before, and that was really good." The flavor had sort of reminded her of her mother's cooking, although she didn't mention that point.

Dmitre wanted to go and get ice cream. But, normal people didn't usually buy cold things to eat in the winter. And while Dmitri wasn't cold - like at all - he realized that his companion for the day, was dressed for colder weather. It would be mean of him to suggest ice cream. Perhaps, after exploring, they could get something warm at the leaky cauldron. "I will have to try it out. He turned away from the shop "Perhaps when it is warmer, I will try these strange flavors." They deffinatly did sound like strange flavors. But they also sounded worth a try. The flavors did sound amazing.
As Dmitri looked away, his eyes landed on the small shop with owls in cages through the window. The name on the shop stated Eeylops Owl Emporium Dmitri had a thing for sweets, but he equally had a thing for birds. He loved the animals. "I can see why everyone talks about this place." He said as he reflexibly inched towards the shop.

"I will have to try it out," said Dmitri of the ice cream parlor, as strange as the place's menu could be at times. "Perhaps when it is warmer," he continued, "I will try these strange flavors."
Tamatha almost had to laugh, although she stopped herself from doing so. Dmitri could go out in winter wearing barely anything that she would have considered appropriate for how cold the weather was and didn't seem to flinch or shiver because of it, yet he drew the line at getting ice cream? There was some sort of irony in there, she thought, although she didn't call him out on it. Maybe he had his reasons, she thought, but it was sort of funny.
They didn't really move much from where they had entered the alley, yet Tamatha saw that Dmitri was drawn, instead, to Eeylops, the owl shop. "I can see why everyone talks about this place."
"Do you have an owl?" Tamatha asked upon seeing the interest in his eyes, a smile back upon her face. Dmitri seemed like the type who would own a large dog or something, she thought, though owl ownership was slightly more practical.

The two hadn't moved much since arriving in Diagon Alley, "Do you have an owl?" Tammy had asked. She must have noticed him taking interest, maybe she had seen him inch closer to the shop. "I do." He said in response. Animals like cats and dogs took time to adjust, and one had to put lots of time into their care. While birds were similar in the note of having to care for them, they were - in a way - easier to care for. "I also have a macaw" He said, finally turning to the woman and smiling. He noticed the hint of surprise in her face. "You didn't expect that, did you" he remarked in a friendly teasing attitude.

"I do," answered Dmitri about owning an owl. That was nice, Tamatha thought, though there really wasn't anything remarkable about it. Lots of people kept owls as pets, since they also came with the benefit of mail delivery if they were large enough and smart enough for that.
"I also have a macaw," Dmitri said. "You didn't expect that, did you?"
"No, no, I didn't… A macaw? Like a parrot?" Tamatha repeated with a hesitant laugh, not having expected that response. An owl made sense for anyone in the magical world, though it wasn't so much that a parrot didn't; he just didn't seem like the type to own a macaw. "What's that like?"

Dmitri smiled, perhaps a bit mischievously. The woman with him seemed to have lost her footing, so to speak. "Yes, like a parrot" He responded to his question. Dmitri did like birds, perhaps that came from his wanting to fly away as a child. "What's that like?" Tammy had asked "The conversation is much less one sided" He joked. "It's much like having an owl, but you do not send them out to deliver things. Do you have an owl?" It wasn't strange for wizards and witches to have their own owls, but there were enough that didn't that one had to ask.

"Yes, like a parrot," Dmitri confirmed to her. "The conversation is much less one-sided," he noted about parrot ownership, a comment at which Tamatha had to laugh. "It's much like having an owl," Dmitri said, "but you do not send them out to deliver things."
Tamatha nodded.
"Do you have an owl?"
Tamatha shook her head. "No, I don't." She was too busy, most of the time, to care for a pet. "I just go to the owl post office if I have to mail something," she laughed. It probably would have saved her some time if she had her own owl to which she could delegate that responsibility. Probably, especially now that Cameron was there, it wouldn't be a bad idea to consider getting one. Then again, she was already responsible for Cam, never mind her hectic work schedule.

"No, I don't." she had said in response to Dmitri's question of owl ownership. It was a shame. They made great pets. But Witches and wizards not owning owls was quite possibly the sole reason why the Owl post office was still up and running. Good for business. "Do you mind if we go in. I'd like to see if they what they have." He wasn't running low on anything, but it would be nice to get a few things, like maybe some more dessert seed for special occasions and treats. Or maybe a new toy for Nayda his Macaw, who enjoyed bells and other toys much more than his owl did.

Tamatha shook her head when Dmitri asked if she minded if they went into Eeylops, since he wanted to see what they had. "Sure. I don't mind," she reassured him, although she really didn't mind at all. "Let's check it out." Cameron had her owl; would her sister think it was weird if she purchased something for him?
Knowing her sister, she would probably wonder what was wrong with her and what in the world she was doing, but it was a nice thought. She could at least go in and see what they had. Maybe Dmitri would have a suggestion or two as to what an owl might enjoy? Tamatha didn't particularly know.
Either way, she walked with Dmitri towards the shop's door, which she held open for him. "After you."

She said that she didn't mind going, so the two walked over to the shop Tammy held the door open "Thank you" He said to her as the entered. The employee behind the desk welcomed them and asked if there was anything that they needed. The shop was filled with owls and items for them, including an assortment of small rodents, intended for consumption. It wasn't surprising to Dmitri, when he didn't see any bird toys, seeing as most of these owls were bread to travel and deliver. His Macaw was easy to buy food for, any food store had nuts and fruit. You could even grow things for it. Though his owl usually hunted at night on it's own, it was always nice to bring a treat for him. He looked around for a while, asking the owner, if they stocked anything larger than what they had out, for example, any rabbits or foxes. "My owl is one of the larger ones. They can even eat small fawns." He explained to the girl he was with. He ended up purchasing a extraordinarily large rat.

Thanking her as he entered, Dmitri stepped inside the store, and Tamatha followed just behind him. She couldn't quite pinpoint the odors inside of Eeylops as she, too, entered the place, but they weren't exactly what she would have described as pleasant. Neither Dmitri nor the employee working at Eeylops who had greeted them inside the dark store seemed to mind it, though, so she figured that it was just her. There was something eerie about it. An assortment of dead and live creatures—presumably owl food—was being kept in various cages and containers, and cages of owls of different sizes and varieties also hung in the shop.
Tamatha waited just inside the door as Dmitri browsed around for whatever he was looking to buy, hoping that it wouldn't take him too long. She couldn't really see herself buying anything for her sister's pet, though maybe not everything besides the owls themselves was dead or meant to be killed by the birds.
After a little while, Dmitri walked back over to one of the people working there—likely the owner, it seemed. She could hear him asking something about rabbits or foxes, which she found slightly strange at first. And then he spoke again. "My owl is one of the larger ones. They can even eat small fawns."
Tamatha's eyes grew larger. Surely Dmitri was exaggerating for effect. Owls just ate things like insects, mice, and voles, maybe something larger on occasion—or so she thought. There weren't owls large enough to consume fawns, were there? While she knew that owls were obviously birds of prey and had to eat other animals to live, she shuddered a little bit at that thought. "Are you sure you didn't buy Hippogriffs?" she checked.

Dmitri didn't mind the smell of the shop. True, it was more intense than what he had at home. Perhaps they could open a window. But he didn't mind it. Tammy did seem to mind the smell, or maybe it was the idea of the animals meant for feeding owls that made her stay close to the door. Dmitri took the hint and purchased the large rat. "Are you sure you didn't buy Hippogriffs?" she had asked after his explanation. "I am sure. He is an eagle owl." He moved towards the door and held it open for her this time. "They are one of the largest owl species in the world" With wingspan of the smallest one being about four feet, and the the larger ones getting up the six. But he didn't want to brag. She did seem to react to him mentioning the fawn, and he really did mean it. But it probably wasn't the type that she was thinking about. Eagle owls did eat roe fawn, which were a smaller bread of dear. Perhaps it wasn't the best subject to talk about, seeing how she didn't feel to comfortable in Eeylops. "Where would you like to visit next?" It was only fair that he give her a chance to choose a destination, after he did.
