April 19, 2025 As evening fell, many of the Hogwarts students returned from their first day at the Flower Festival greenhouse and back to the school. Although Oona hadn't decided if she would go back for the second day, preferring to spend her time preparing for her OWLS, she was glad to have attended the festival for one day, at least. The fifth-year Ravenclaw, along with numerous others, was making her way back up through the grounds and into the castle after the Portkey back to Hogwarts, chatting with another girl in her year about an assortment of chocolates she'd bought.
"Can I try it?" Oona asked, after the other girl pointed out what she had said was a chocolate with a raspberry filling. It was the only one of that kind of chocolate that the girl had, so she wasn't going to impose. The other girl had no problem with her taking it, though, and so Oona nodded, thanked her, and paused as an older boy moved to walk in between the two of them.
"Sorry," Oona began, her words directed to the boy, whose name she couldn't recall. "Could you just, er… pass me that chocolate there?" she asked, nodding towards the chocolate that the other girl in her year had been holding out before he'd gotten in the way of it.

notes here. @oona words: #### | The day had been a fun one, though a rare occurrence for him to say the least. Matt considered picking up his guitar from his dorm and heading back down to play in a corner of the grounds somewhere, something he ended up doing upon returning to the school. Still, he was relatively lost in thought as he carried his guitar down to the grounds, his eyes showing just how lost in thought he was. He'd been so unaware of his surroundings that it was only when someone spoke up that he even noticed.
"Hm? Oh sure," Matt replied, not really realizing he had walked between anyone. He had been reflecting on the day as well as what else he had been through lately. He was normally not one to be lost in thought to the degree that he disregarded everyone around him, but he wasn't going to be completely rude. Picking one of the chocolates, he handed it over to the 5th year that was vaguely familiar? He couldn't remember her name at all and wasn't sure if he could remember her face. Of course, that could also just have been due to how absent-minded he was at the moment.

April 19, 2025 Oona wasn't too concerned with the sudden presence of the boy who had gotten in between her and the girl with the chocolates. It was one of the rare occasions where she wasn't busy doing something else already, and he was considerate enough not to put up a fuss about passing the chocolate in her direction.
"Thanks," Oona nodded as she took the chocolate from him. She popped the whole thing into her mouth without a second thought and chewed. It was sweet; there was certainly that, but there was something else… She couldn't quite taste raspberry, as she'd expected… Blackcurrant, perhaps? That might have been it.
Whatever it was, it was better than anything that she could recall having tasted before. She looked back towards the boy who had handed her the chocolate. Maybe she hadn't realized it at first glance, but he was remarkably attractive. Oona giggled. "Who are you, by the way?"

notes here. @oona words: #### | "No problem," he nodded as he started to walk away before hearing her ask who he was. That was a bit odd, as most people just seemed to let him go on his merry way. But there was someone asking who he was, and that meant responding, right? So he stopped and turned to look at her, and thought something was a bit off. Still, it was probably nothing, and he should be polite.
"Matt Johanson. You?" he replied, curious as to who she was. He really couldn't remember who she was or where he had seen her before, but he knew she was at least two or three years younger than him and definitely in a different house. He would've had a better idea of who she was if she was a Gryffindor. Letting that slide, he waited her response while also glancing over at the other girl, wondering if there was something in the chocolate....

April 19, 2025 The boy had turned to walk away, which Oona thought was awfully sad. She would have liked it if he had stayed around so that she could get to know him, she thought. He seemed nice, truly, and she smiled when he said his name. "Matt Johanson," he told her. He stopped and paused, and the girl who had given Oona the chocolate disappeared as Oona decided to hang back to talk to him. "You?"
Oh, and Matt had asked her for her name! That was so nice of him, and he had been so sweet to give her that chocolate, too. "I'm Oona," Oona answered him, still uncharacteristically giggly. "Oona O'Toole."

notes here. @oona words: #### | "Nice to meet you, Oona," he replied, quickly noting it was just the two of them. The other girl had disappeared, which was more than a little weird, but what could he say or do about it? He was going to be rude too if he kept going at this point as Oona was talking to him right now. Setting his guitar lightly on the ground, he thought about what exactly he could say next, though with how giggly she was being, what could be brought up?

April 19, 2025 Matt set a guitar on the ground as he said that it was nice to meet her. Oona felt likewise; in fact, she was thrilled that Matt was talking to her and thought that it was nice to meet her. Really, how hadn't she noticed him before? She didn't know, but she realized that she really hadn't noticed his guitar until he'd set it upon the ground.
She glanced down at the guitar, but her gaze quickly returned to Matt's face. He had a nice face. "Oooh," she realized. "You're a musician?!"

notes here. @oona words: #### | "Somewhat, just guitar, though. It's a hobby more than what I'm wanting to do career wise," he replied with a shrug. He enjoyed playing, yes, and was decent at it, but if he was good at it, someone with a real ear for music would've tried to get him to join a band a long time ago. And who knows, maybe they tried and he shrugged them off without thinking about it? It was typical for him when he really thought about it as he just wasn't a huge social butterfly. It was the opposite actually, the wallflower that kept to himself.

April 19, 2025 Although he explained that his guitar-playing was more of a hobby than something that he wanted to do as a career, Oona didn't mind. It sounded very interesting to her, though that it was Matt Johanson might have had something to do with it, too.
"I'd love to hear something," Oona mentioned with yet another giggle, not sure whether to look at the instrument or at Matt's face. He was just so handsome!

notes here. @oona words: #### | "Um... sure?" he replied, picking up his guitar and starting to play. He picked a song he had been practicing, though it was a muggle song and thus probably wasn't going to be well known. Then again, the other song he had in mind, though another muggle song, was probably going to be a bit more well known due to the magical feel the song had.

April 19, 2025 "Um… sure?"
Oona wasn't sure why Matt didn't sound so sure about playing something on his guitar for her, and she giggled slightly at his uncertainty. He was probably just humble, Oona figured, considering that he was attractive and also certainly a good musician, on top of that.
She grinned as he picked up his guitar in spite of his initial hesitation over it. He began to play a tune, though—while Oona recognized the song as one from the Muggle world—she couldn't place its name. Regardless, she thought that it sounded excellent.
She clapped, unable to wipe the smile from her face as she listened. What had he been so worried about? "I'm sure loads of girls tell you how brilliant you are," Oona told him, "but you're a wonderful musician…"

notes here. @oona words: #### | "Um you'd probably be surprised, but you're the first person I've really even played around or for," he admitted with a small shrug. He played a bit aimlessly, though more or less just adjusting the tuning a bit as it sounded slightly off while playing. He was a bit surprised she was saying that, while also surprised that he even played it for someone. Still, it had happened and that was something he just had to be okay with. After all, he was bound to end up playing around people again at some point, right?

April 19, 2025 Matt told her that she would probably be surprised. By how great at playing the guitar he was? Oona could see that. He was excellent, truly! She barely caught the rest of what he was saying, though, when he said that she was the first person he had actually played for.
"I can't be the first!" Oona denied with a laugh, listening as Matt continued to play—and not realizing at all that the young man was merely tuning the instrument at that point. In fact, she thought that that sounded just as good. "And what's this song called?" Oona asked him eagerly. It was… different, but she liked different.
She really liked Matt, actually, and she had never felt that way about a boy before. How had they only just met, again?

notes here. @oona words: #### | "I was really just tuning it. Otherwise this thing doesn't sound all that great when I actually try to play," he replied, raising an eyebrow slightly. Something definitely was starting to seem off, though he wasn't sure what. She was a little too... dream-like to really be rational. Was it something in the candy she had eaten? If so, perhaps he should track down the girl that had given her the piece, as the rest of the chocolates could just as easily be tainted as well, and that was a nerve-wracking prospect. Still, he did have to make sure Oona was alright, even if it was just how she really was. multiply life by the power of two |

April 19, 2025 Although Matt explained that he was only tuning the guitar in order to make it sound even better when he played it, Oona nodded. Ordinarily, she wouldn't have given it a second thought; she knew that instruments had to be tuned. At that moment, however, she was almost oblivious.
"Right," she answered with yet another laugh, looking back to Matt's face and studying it. "Your face is nice, you know. Like somebody carved it out of marble. Has anybody ever told you that, Matt?" she asked him. After saying his name, she began to repeat it. There was just something about the sound of it; she really liked it. It had a nice ring to it, and she thought that she would try it out. "Matt… Matt… Johanson. Matt Johanson."
